COLLEGE WOMEN’S GOLF: Oakland seventh at Summit League tourney
PRIMM, Nev.– Liz Ecker shot a final round 76 and finished in a tie for seventh place (227/+11), while Mara Kovak shot the low Oakland round of the day with a 73 (+1) to lead the women’s golf team on the final day of the Summit League Championships on Tuesday at Primm Valley Lakes Course. The Golden Grizzlies finished in a tie for seventh place after shooting 953 for the tournament (312-332-309/+89).
“Mara (Kovac) will be graduating this summer so it was good to see her final round representing Oakland be one to remember,” said head coach Russ Cunningham “Liz (Ecker) finished off her career in stellar fashion with a hole in one, and a top ten finish, both of these players will be missed next year.”
Ecker finished with the fourth-lowest conference championship score in school history and improved eight strokes from last year’s conference championship.
Oral Roberts captured the league title, finishing with a final score of 909 (+45), four shots clear of North Dakota State with a final score of 913 (+49).
Kovac used her low final round score to finish in a tie for 29th place (239/+23) and Alanna Gerber shot a final round of 78 to finish tied for 34th (243/+27).
