PRIMM, Nev. — Nick Cunningham shot a final round of even-par 71 to finish in a tie for fourth place with an overall score of 211 (-2) to lead the Oakland men’s golf team at The Summit League Championship on Tuesday at Primm Valley Desert Course. Cunningham set a new school record with his score at the league tournament.

“What a way for Nick to finish his first year of collegiate golf,” said OU coachRuss Cunningham. “This may be the break out event he needed to take his game to the next level. I believe this was our best 54-hole score of the season, so what it should tell us is there is a lot of work to do if we want to contend in the future.”

The Golden Grizzlies finished in ninth place with an overall score of 883 (+31). IUPUI captured the league championship after edging out Southern Utah on the first playoff hole (No. 18). Both shot final scores of 849 (-3).

IUPUI’s Michael Davan overtook his teammate Ben Engle on the final day with a final round of 70 (-1) to shoot 205 (-8), defeating Engle by two shots. Trevor Rosekrans and Cameron Nelson  each recorded final rounds of 73 (+2) to finish in a tie for 31st place for OU.

Cunningham earns all-tournament honors for the Grizzlies with his tie for fourth-place finish. His 211 overall score was a personal- and team-best for the season.
