MONDAY’S PREP BASEBALL ROUNDUP: Lake Orion shows no mercy on Clarkston; Adams downs Rochester
CLARKSTON — Lake Orion continued its league-leading pace Monday and downed Clarkston, 14-1, in an OAA Red Division baseball game.
The Dragons (9-5, 4-0) scored two in the first, one in the third, one in the fourth, five in the sixth and five more in the seventh and collected 17 hits on the day.
Clarkston plated one run in the seventh.
Brad Schaenzer gained the win on the mound, going six strong innings while allowing just two hits while striking out nine and walking one.
Roman Kuster was 2-for-4 with three RBI and scored a run to lead Lake Orion. Ryan Lambrecht finished 2-for-2 with three runs and two RBI, while Dalton Ovesen was 2-for-5, scored twice and drove in one run in the rout.
Chris Martens drove in the sole run for Clarkston (2-4, 1-3).
ROCHESTER ADAMS 6, ROCHESTER 1: Sean Beyer scattered five hits and struck out five and consistently kept the Falcons at bay in this OAA Red Division win Monday.
Adams broke the game open with five runs in the second inning, while adding an insurance run in the fourth frame. Visiting Rochester plated its sole run in the sixth inning.
At the plate, Nick Balsei finished 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and drove in one run for Adams (5-4, 1-3). Jeff Olmack also drove home two run on a triple.
Evan Surinck was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Rochester. John Michelon took the loss on the mound, striking out seven, walking two and giving up two hits in four innings of work for Rochester (5-8, 0-4).
ROCHESTER HILLS LUTHERAN NORTHWEST 21, ANN ARBOR GREENHILLS 2 (5 innings): Northwest led 6-0 after two innings, then erupted for eight runs in the third in posting this MIAC Blue Division win Monday.
The Crusaders (8-2) racked up 17 hits on the day, led by a 4-for-5 performance from Chad Cook. A senior, Cook scored three runs and drove in three RBI, while Colin Sheehan was 2-for-2 with three RBI and Christian Woodfin added two hits and scored two runs for Northwest.
