GIRLS SOCCER DISTRICTS: Stoney Creek upsets Eisenhower

UTICA — Two top 10 teams facing off can usually provided for a memorable postseason opener.

Rochester Stoney Creek and Utica Eisenhower did not disappoint Tuesday in their Division 1 girls soccer pre-district contest.

Hannah Darin scored what proved to be the game-winner with three seconds left in the first overtime session to lift 10th-ranked Stoney Creek to a 3-2 victory over fourth-ranked Eisenhower at Swinehart Stadium.

Maria Zandi and Madison Schupbach notched the assists on the final goal to send the cougars into Thursday’s district semifinal against Utica.

Jamie Midgley tied the game in the 71st minute, while Maddie Lucci scored in the 105th minute to tie the game.

Jennifer Jurcak scored midway through the first half and Kesha Conquest scored in the 88th minute of overtime for Eisenhower.

Halee Michel recorded eight saves on 10 shots for Stoney Creek. Danielle Purgar notched 15 saves and faced 18 shots for Eisenhower.

    With all of the serious Division 1 & 2 talent on Eisenhower the last 4 years, how is it possible this school won nothing? Perhaps its because there coach has never coached this level of talent before?
