LAKE ORION — Hannah Grieb picked the right time to score her first varsity goal.

The sophomore scored in the 96th minute of the second overtime session to spark Rochester Adams to a 2-1 victory over Midland Dow in a Division 1 regional final at Lake Orion High School.

Fourth-ranked Adams (18-4-2) advances to the Final Four for the eighth time in school and will face second-ranked Okemos in the state semifinal Wednesday at Holt High School.

The Highlanders also made the trip to the Final Four in 1990, 1991, 1992, 1998, 1999, 2003, 2006 and 2010. Adams is now one win away from playing in its fifth state final.

Grieb’s herorics came off a feed from Hannah Lee.

MOVING TOWARDS GOAL: Rochester Adams' Merlin Beckwith and the fourth-ranked Highlanders won their ninth regional title in school history Friday with a 2-1, double-overtime session victory over Okemos.

Mackenzie Barber scored in the first half for Adams with the goal coming off an assist from Kelsey Treanor.

Hannah Piper scored unassisted in the 37th minute for Midland Dow (21-2-1), honorable mention in the polls.

Dow could not beat Adams goalkeeper Lexi Lewandowski, who finished with six saves.

Heather Derstine made 10 saves for Dow.
