BOYS SOCCER: Roeper edges rival Oakland Christian

BIRMINGHAM — Behind two first-half goals, Birmingham Roeper was able to edge rival Auburn Hills Oakland Christian 2-0 in MIAC blue division boys soccer play Thursday at St. James Field.

Spencer Solys scored the first goal on an assist from Max Whipple, while Solys set up Whipple for the eventual game-winner for the Roughriders (7-1-1, 3-0-1). Kalvin Lind made 10 saves for Roper in the win.

Daniel Smith scored unassisted for Oakland Christian (5-2-0, 3-2-0). Chris Smith had nine saves for the Lancers.
