BOYS SOCCER: Clarkston stymies Lake Orion; Oxford edges North Farmington
CLARKSTON — Behind three first-half goals, Clarkston upended rival Lake Orion for the second consecutive season, topping the Dragons, 3-1, Monday in an OAA crossover boys soccer match.
Ben Snider, Gary Bigger, and Joey Definis all scored for Clarkston (7-5-0), while Harry Smith collected three saves for the Wolves.
Brandon Shefcyk scored the lone goal on the night for Lake Orion (3-6-1) just before the half and Greg Thelen notched three saves for the Dragons.
OXFORD 1, NORTH FARMINGTON 0: Oxford remained in the OAA blue Division title chase with this narrow league win Monday over the Raiders.
Freshman Connor Bandel made six saves for his fourth shutout of the season, while Paul Tomaka scored an unassisted goal in the first half for Oxford (7-4-1, 6-1-1).
AUBURN HILLS OAKLAND CHRISTIAN 1, ANN ARBOR GREENHILLS 0: Phil Benedict scored with 11:07 to play Monday as the Lancers toppled the Gryph0ns in an MIAC Blue Division match.
Daniel Smith drew the assist and Stuart Sutherland notched the shutout with three saves for the Lancers (9-2-0, 5-2-0).
