FOOTBALL: Eriksen barrels over 1,000 yards mark in Clarkston’s win over Troy

CLARKSTON — Ian Eriksen eclipsed the 1,000 rushing yards barrier and Clarkston had no problem moving to7-0 on the season with a 28-0 shutout of visiting Troy Friday.

Clarkston, ranked No. 1 in the state in Division 1, set up next week’s showdown at No. 2 Lake Orion which will determine the OAA Red Division championship. Both teams are 7-0 overall and 6-0 in league play.

Eriksen ran for 295 more yards and scored on runs of 1, 81, 93 and 62 yards for Clarkston, giving the junior running back 24 touchdowns on the season.

Terrance Cherry had 85 yards on 19 carries for Troy y (4-3, 3-3), which must win its final two games of the season to reach the Division 1 postseason field.

Eriksen also had a two-point conversion run and Shane Hynes added three extra points for the Wolves. Clarkston led 6-0 at the half, before adding on eight points in the third quarter and 14 more points in the fourth quarter.
