SCHOOL: Auburn Hills Avondale

HEAD COACH: Jeff Borja, third season (eighth overall, 83-69).

2011-12 RECORD: 4-17, 0-12 OAA White Division (seventh).

STATE TOURNAMENT: Lost in Class A pre-districts to Troy Athens.

RETURNING STARTERS: Jabaar Mims, 6-2 jr. F; Brandon Golden, 6-6 sr. C/F (10 rpg).

OTHER RETURNEES: Treyvonn Munson, 6-7 sr. F; DaeQuan Terrell, jr. F; Eric Stubbs, 6-0 sr. SG.

KEY NEWCOMERS: Chris Barton, soph. G; Zarrick Stugis, jr. G; Derek Odneal, jr. G.

KEY LOSSES: A.J. Susick, 6-6 C; Cameron Williams, 6-8 sr. C (transferred to Waterford Mott); Clark Clancy, 6-5 sr. C/F (not playing basketball).

OUTLOOK: After suffer a major rebuilding season last winter, the Yellowjackets should be much better this season in a deep OAA White Division. Avondale does have a lot more experience and size opposed to last season. The Yellowjackets must learn to play together as a team, as last year they lacked glue-guys and struggled with consistency and fell off the map.

SCHOOL: Auburn Hills Oakland Christian

HEAD COACH: Dennis Hopkins, seventh season (10th overall).

2011-12 RECORD: Not available.

STATE TOURNAMENT: Lost in Class C district opener to Madison Heights Bishop Foley.

RETURNING STARTERS: D.J. Stevens, 6-2 jr. F.

OTHER RETURNEES: John Van Noord, 6-0 jr. F.

KEY NEWCOMERS: Drew Losee, jr.G (transfer from Lake Orion); Javarian Smith, 5-11 soph. G;

KEY LOSSES: Drew Perrin, 5-11 PG; Charles Hayden, 6-4 F; Josh Peterson, 6-7 C; Nathan Piasecki, 6-1 F.

OUTLOOK: The Lancers lost eight players off of last season’s roster, which failed to live up to expectations last season in both the MIAC and its first season in Class C.

SCHOOL: Auburn Hills Christian Academy

HEAD COACH: No information submitted for this team.

OUTLOOK:

SCHOOL: Clarkston

HEAD COACH: Dan Fife, 30th season.

2011-12 RECORD: x-x, 10-0 OAA Red Division (first).

STATE TOURNAMENT: Lost in Class A district finals in overtime to Fenton.

RETURNING STARTERS: Jordan Dasuqi, 6-1 sr. G/F (All-Area Fourth Team; Lake Superior State).

OTHER RETURNEES: Chance Huth, 6-4 sr. F (currently injured); Nathan Yeloushan, 6-1 sr. F; Nick Owens, 6-1 soph. SG (standout three-point shooter); Blake Sutherland, 6-4 sr. F; Dylan Hancook, 6-5 sr. C/F.

KEY NEWCOMERS: Alex Trimm, 6-1 jr. G/F; Press Kampe, 5-9 jr.PG (transfer from Rochester Adams); Andrew Myers, 6-1 soph. G; Drew Swanson, 6-5 jr. F/C; Marrick Canada, 6-0 soph. G;  Adam Kline, 6-3 soph. F; Mason Vires, 6-0 soph. G; Dayton Wallis, 6-0 soph. PG; Mike Nicholson, 6-8 jr. C; Cole Chewins, 6-8 soph. C; DJ Zezula, 5-11 soph. PG.

KEY LOSSES: Nick Tatu, 6-2 G/F (All-Area First Team); Zach Collins, 6-2 F; Mitch Baenziger, 6-2 PG (All-Area Second Team); Matt Dellinger, 6-2 F (All-Area Fourth Team); Nick Dahl, 6-1 G/F; Alan Kamieniecki, 6-6 F; Nick Mattich, 6-4 jr. C (not playing); Tim Cason, 6-0 jr. F (not playing).

OUTLOOK: For the first time in 19 seasons, Clarkston did not play in the regional round of the postseason last March, falling to Fenton in the district finals. The Wolves should be very talented again and a favorite in the OAA-Red with a deep and talented roster. The team will need to paly early without their top two returning players, who are out with injuries until at least January. Clarkston will have some of its best height in recent years with six players ranging from 6-4 to 6-8 and a plethora of fundamentally sound shooters. This team may lack a ton of varsity experience, but expect the Wolves to contend for league and district hardware.

SCHOOL: Clarkston Everest Collegiate

HEAD COACH: Ann Lowney, fifth season.

2011-12 RECORD: 15-7, 6-2 CHSL Tri-Sectional (first).

STATE TOURNAMENT: Won first Class D district title; lost in Class D regional semifinals to Detroit Westside Christian;

RETURNING STARTERS: Richie Cross, 6-0 sr.SG; Blake Beauchamp, 6-0 sr.PG; David Smith, 6-0 sr. F; Mitch Lasecki, 5-10 sr. F.

OTHER RETURNEES: Ben Marcial, 6-1 sr. F.

KEY NEWCOMERS: Noah Beachamp, jr. G; Steven Scott, jr. G/F; Elliot Fenske, soph. G; Lucas Neme, soph. G.

KEY LOSSES: Donald Allen, 6-5 F/C (All-Area Fifth Team); Sam Bellestri, G; Patrick Nalepa, G.

OUTLOOK: The Mountaineers won their first-ever CHSL Tri-Sectional Division league title and also captured their first Class D district championship last winter. Can Everest find similar success in its fifth season of competition? There is a mix of veterans and newcomers and the Mountaineers have a quality, veteran coach in Ann Lowney, who shared All-Area coach of the Year honors last season. This is a program that is truly on the rise.

SCHOOL: Clarkston Springfield Christian

HEAD COACH: Pat Wagner, third season.

2011-12 RECORD: 8-10, 2-6 FBAC Red Division (fourth).

STATE TOURNAMENT: Lost in MACS Division II

RETURNING STARTERS: Andrew Alonzi, 5-11 jr. PG (All-League); Nico Alonzi, 5-9 soph. G; Michael Wagner, 5-10 soph. G/F.

OTHER RETURNEES: Noah Brindisi, 5-11 soph. F.

KEY NEWCOMERS: Brandon Franklin, 6-2 sr. F/C (transfer from Waterford Lakecrest Baptist; leading scorer in first four games).

KEY LOSSES: Kyle Pendley, 6-2 F; Collin Rutland, 6-4 F/C; Austin Mason, 5-11 sr. G (transferred); Joe Wayne, 6-0 sr. G (transferred).

OUTLOOK: With four of the top eight players departing, the Eagles will be a question mark in the FBAC White Division, the second of three tiers of the FBAC. Springfield Christian lacks size, and will have to go to a strong backcourt to shoulder a lot of the load in the early stages. A key addition will be transfer Brandon Franklin, who averaged double figures last season at Lakecrest Baptist.

SCHOOL: Holly

HEAD COACH: Lance Baylis, seventh season (89-59).

2011-12 RECORD: 15-6, 12-4 Flint Metro League (second).

STATE TOURNAMENT: Lost in Class A district opener to Clarkston.

RETURNING STARTERS: Isaac Casillas, 6-0 soph. SG (started a couple of games last season).

OTHER RETURNEES: Morgan Baylis, 6-2 soph. G; Parker Rowse, 5-10 soph. G; Justis Kerner, 6-1 sr. G; Patrick Reddy, 6-3 sr. F; Cannon Konzer, 6-5 sr. F; Logan Spiker, 6-8 jr. F; Michael Alexander, 6-5 sr. G.

KEY NEWCOMERS:  Kyle Woodruff, 6-0 fr. G; Joshua Simms, 5-10 soph. G; Sean Barr, 5-10 sr. G; Adam Tooley, 5-10 fr. G; Lance Cooley, 6-3 sr. F.

KEY LOSSES: Nic Stoll, 6-7 F/C (Northwood; All-League; All-Area Second Team); Jared Plawski, 6-2 PG; Austin Hopkin, 6-4 sr. G/F; Blake Ordiway, 6-4 F; Donovan Williams, 5-10 G.

OUTLOOK: Holly will be young and take its lumps early after the many roles vacated by graduation, but the Bronchos won’t be a pushover if some of the youth movement begins to produce. Holly has been one of the better programs in the FML

SCHOOL: Lake Orion

HEAD COACH: Tom Risi, second season (16-10).

2011-12 RECORD: 16-10, 4-6 OAA Blue Division (fourth season).

STATE TOURNAMENT:  Won district and regional titles in the Class A state tournament.

RETURNING STARTERS: John McCarty, 6-5 jr. G/F (Division I Recruit; All-Area Third Team); Chaz Miller, 6-6 sr. G/F; Damonte Kruse, 5-8 sr. PG.

OTHER RETURNEES: Tyler Martola, 6-3 sr. F; Connor Stallions, 6-0 sr. G; Jeremy King, 5-10 sr. SG; Roman Kuster, 6-5 sr. C;

KEY NEWCOMERS: Zachary Greene, 5-10 jr. PG; David Henry, 6-4 jr. F; John Falter, 6-1 jr. G; Joshua Bays, 6-2 jr. F; Miles Hardy, 6-0 soph. PG; Nathaniel Marcum, 6-5 jr. F/C; James Budreau, 6-3 jr. F.

KEY LOSSES: Brad Watterworth, 6-8 C (All-Area Third Team; Lawrence Tech); Justin Walukonis, 6-0 sr. G.

OUTLOOK: After finishing only 11-9 during the regular season last winter, the Dragons made an improbable run through the Class A state tournament, eventually winning district and regional titles for the first time in decades and reaching the Elite Eight. Lake Orion returns tow-third of that squad and has improved its ball-handling and defensive woes, which should make them a contender in the OAA blue Division.

SCHOOL: Lake Orion Baptist

HEAD COACH: Tim Barnes, second season (7-8).

2011-12 RECORD: 7-8, 4-4 FBAC Red Division (third).

STATE TOURNAMENT: Lost in MACS Division in second round to Temperance Stateline Christian.

RETURNING STARTERS: Ben Case, 5-11 sr. SG; Mark Dewar, 6-3 jr. F; Jason Noruk, 5-11 jr. F.

OTHER RETURNEES: Nick Gardner, 5-11 jr. G; Micah Bryson, 5-11 soph. SG; Daniel Harris, 5-11soph. F; Josh Jenkins, 5-7 soph. PG; Jacob Noruk, 5-7 soph. F; Luke Strunk, 6-1 soph. C.

KEY NEWCOMERS: Luke Gingell, 5-8 jr. G; Trystan Oh, 6-1 jr. F; Macob Magar, 6-1 soph. C.

KEY LOSSES: James Noruk, 5-9 SG (All-time leading scorer in school history; All-FBAC First Team; MACS All-State Second Team; All-Area Fifth Team).

OUTLOOK: The Lions will move to the FBAC White Division, which is the middle division of the three-tier FBAC. Lake Orion Baptist returns nine players overall and welcomes three transfers, but will need to compete without the leading scorer in school history in James Noruk, the Conference MVP last winter.

SCHOOL: Ortonville Brandon

HEAD COACH: Ross Gauthier, second season (6-15).

2011-12 RECORD: 5-16, 4-12 Flint Metro League (seventh).

STATE TOURNAMENT: Lost in Class A district semifinals to Fenton (69-44).

RETURNING STARTERS: Quinton Cook, 6-6 sr. F (All-League; All-Area Fourth Team; 14 ppg, 9.0 rpg); Dylan Morris, 5-8 jr. G (8 ppg); Alex Bageris, 5-9 sr. G.

OTHER RETURNEES: Chuckie Rice, 6-2 jr. PG; Nick Keller, 6-1 jr. G/F; Josh Lambert, 6-5 sr. C; Gabe Lindsay, 6-0 sr. F; Ben Goldman, 6-0 sr. G.

KEY LOSSES: Cody Feltner, 6-0 G (Schoolcraft College). .

OUTLOOK: Brandon should be more familiar with Gauthier’s system and with good size and the return of eight of the top nine players, should be able to move up in the standings of the nine-school FML. The Blackhawks also have a top 100 prospect in Michigan in Quinton Cook, who blew up over the summer and is slated for a big year.

SCHOOL: Oxford

HEAD COACH: Paul Marfia, fourth season.

2011-12 RECORD: 14-7, 7-3 OAA Gold Division (second).

STATE TOURNAMENT: Lost in Class A district opener to Lake Orion.

RETURNING STARTERS: None.

OTHER RETURNEES: Mike Censullo, 5-11 sr. SG; Jacob Wysocki, 6-f sr. F; Rob Norfolk, 6-0 sr. F; Nathan Brubaker, 6-4 sr. F; Alex Hesse, 6-7 jr. C; Connor Elzerman, 6-0 soph. G.

KEY NEWCOMERS: There are eight newcomers on the roster vying for playing time.

KEY LOSSES: Graduated eight players and had another player opt not to return; Mark Hazelwood, 5-10 SG: Jacques Toussaint, 6-0 PG; Mike Kitchner, 6-3 SG.

OUTLOOK: After losing nine total players, including all five regular starters, Oxford could be in for a rebuilding year. The Wildcats do have a couple of capable shooters and good size inside, but need to develop experience at the varsity level in order to compete for a league title. Oxford has not won a league since 1981.

SCHOOL: Pontiac

HEAD COACH: Robert Rogers, 16th season (278-112 between Pontiac and Pontiac Northern).

2011-12 RECORD: 13-8, 6-6 OAA Red Division (fourth).

STATE TOURNAMENT: Lost in Class A districts semifinals to Troy.

RETURNING STARTERS: Jarod Jones, 6-2 sr. SG (12.7 ppg, 5.0 rpg); De’Jon Cogdel, 5-7 sr. PG (9.3 ppg); Vezzie Carthane, 5-11 jr. G (10 ppg); Roosevelt Wheeler, 6-2 sr. F.

OTHER RETURNEES:; Tra’jan Seay, 5-11 sr. G/F; Jamal Champele, 5-11 jr. G; Javonte Lavalis, 5-10 sr. G; Issac Phlegm, 6-4 sr. C; Blakestan Samuel, 6-2 jr. F; Jordan Reed, 6-4 jr. G/F.

KEY NEWCOMERS: Jordan Reed, 6-2 jr. G/F; Docorey Thompston, 6-3 sr. F.

KEY LOSSES: Jamerea Samples, 6-2 F; Derek Kirk-Turner, 6-3 F; Marques Webb, 6-2 G/F; Jordan Chambers, 5-6 PG; Mark Hoover, 6-1 G; Kezlow Smith, 5-11 G.

OUTLOOK: The Phoenix will largely inconsistent last season and lacked a true leader; this season with eight players back, Pontiac could be a factor in the OAA-Red with a bevy of quality athletes. Who will step up and lead this team is the main question mark?

SCHOOL: Pontiac Academy of Excellence

HEAD COACH: No information submitted on this team.

2011-12 RECORD:

STATE TOURNAMENT: Lost in Class C districts.

RETURNING STARTERS: Dion Fears.

OTHER RETURNEES:

KEY NEWCOMERS:

KEY LOSSES: Jordan Jones, Quarmail Walker;

OUTLOOK:

SCHOOL: Pontiac Notre Dame Prep

HEAD COACH: No information submitted on this team.

2011-12 RECORD: Not available.

STATE TOURNAMENT: Lost in Class B district finals to Imlay City.

RETURNING STARTERS: Mike Risi, 6-3 sr. F.

OTHER RETURNEES:

KEY NEWCOMERS:

KEY LOSSES: Kellen McCormick, 6-8F (Western Michigan; AP All-State First Team; All-Area First Team); Troy Sassick, 6-5 C; Ryan Pierce, 5-10 G; Dan Durkin, 6-2 G.

OUTLOOK: The Fighting Irish have a new coaching staff and face a rebuilding season after most of its top 10 players departed by graduation.

SCHOOL: Rochester

HEAD COACH: John Pleasant, sixth season (57-51).

2011-12 RECORD: 21-2, 10-0 OAA Blue Division.

STATE TOURNAMENT: Lost in Class A district finals to Lake Orion.

RETURNING STARTERS: Armen Camaj, 6-8 sr. C; Manny Medoza, 6-3 sr. F.

OTHER RETURNEES: Jason Lee, 5-6 jr. PG (started some games the past two years); Johnny Corsetti, 6-2 sr. F; Mike Murri, 6-3 jr. G/F.

KEY NEWCOMERS: James Young, 6-7 sr. G/F (transfer from Troy; signed with Kentucky; Mr. Basketball favorite; top-10 national prospect); Demetrius Magee, 6-1 jr.PG; Terron Dumars, 6-0 jr. SG (nephew of former Pistons great Joe Dumars); Q France, 6-1 sr. F (transfer from Rochester Adams).

KEY LOSSES: Graduated eight players; Taylor Perry, 6-4 F(All-State, All-Area First Team); Western Michigan); Paris Pereira, 5-8 PG (Rochester College); Mike Klotz, 6-1 SG; Kurt Apostal, 6-2 C; Sean McCann, 6-0 G.

OUTLOOK: The Falcons tied a school record with 21 straight wins last season and won their second straight league title for the first time since the late 1980s. Rochester was stunned by Lake Orion in the district finals despite being favored to make a deep run in the tournament. This year’s team has several key components and will remain relevant with the arrival of Young, who moved to Rochester Hills this summer and became immediately eligible. If this team gels, it could win its first district since 1988.

SCHOOL: Rochester Adams

HEAD COACH: John Hall, 14th season (162-23).

2011-12 RECORD: 12-9, 7-3 OAA White Division (third).

STATE TOURNAMENT: Lost in Class A district semifinals to Rochester.

RETURNING STARTERS: Akhemji Williams, 5-9 jr. PG (All-Area Second Team; top 100 prospect in Michigan; Division I recruit; 16.1 ppg, 6.4 apg; 4.1spg); Zach Littleson, 6-4 sr. G/F (12.3 ppg; 5.8rpg; third-year starter); Andrew McBride, 6-4 sr. F.

OTHER RETURNEES:  Bern Limb, 6-3 sr. C; C.J. Borglin, 6-4 sr. G/F; Jack Twitty, 6-2 jr. G; Ted Hurst, 6-0 sr. PG.

KEY NEWCOMERS: Cole Davis, 6-2 jr. G; Brant Santana, 6-1 jr. G/F.

KEY LOSSES: Press Kampe, 5-9 jr. PG (transferred to Clarkston); James Berger, 6-0 SG; Q France, 6-2 sr. F (transferred to Rochester); Matt Sokol, 6-4 jr. C/F (not playing).

OUTLOOK: Adams graduated four players, had two players transfer and another two opted not to come out this season to concentrate on other sports. That being said, Hall believes that this could still be one of his most talented and deepest teams he’s had in 14 years as head coach. The Highlanders have a star player in Williams and the right type of players to complement. Adams could very well challenge for a league and district title this winter.

SCHOOL: Rochester Stoney Creek

HEAD COACH: Steve Norgrove, third season (10th season overall, 102-110).

2011-12 RECORD: 0-21, 0-10 OAA Blue Division (sixth).

STATE TOURNAMENT: Lost in Class A district opener to Rochester.

RETURNING STARTERS: Ben Temrowski, 6-4 sr. G/F (asset school record with 44 3-pointers last season); Eric Gilgenbach, 6-2 soph. G/F; Stephan Makowski, 6-1 sr. G (10 ppg); Patrick Merz, 6-6 jr. C/F (8 ppg, 5 rpg).

OTHER RETURNEES: Mike Angeli, 5-11 sr. PG (injured all of last season); Andrew Holoman, 6-5 sr. F

KEY NEWCOMERS: Charlie Carson, 6-0 jr. PG; Jack Allen, 6-0 soph. SG;

KEY LOSSES: None.

OUTLOOK: After going winless last winter, Stoney Creek opened with a pair of lopsided wins over Utica and Waterford Kettering. The Cougars have dropped down to the OAA Blue Division, where they should be amongst the league leaders.

SCHOOL: Rochester Hills Christian

HEAD COACH: Jon Bronsing, seventh season (non-consecutive).

2011-12 RECORD: 17-9, 7-1 FBAC Red Division (tied-first).

STATE TOURNAMENT: Lost in MACS Division I Second Round to Troy Bethany Christian.

RETURNING STARTERS: Marquez Hatcher, 5-10 jr. PG; Aaron Berry, 6-1 jr. G; Jered Brown, 6-0 jr. F; Josh Steiner, 6-4 jr. C.

OTHER RETURNEES: Liav Avihu, 6-3 jr. F; Charles Kalajian, 6-3 sr. F; Adriel Byers, 5-11 jr. G; Jesse Montgomery, 5-6 jr. SG; Misael Hernandez, 5-5 jr. G; Brandon Tuttle, 5-7 soph. G.

KEY NEWCOMERS: Ryan Patton, 5-7 fr. SG;  Christian Ohly, 6-0 soph. F; John Werthman, 6-0 soph. F; Colton Tucker, 5-11 soph. G/F.

KEY LOSSES: Nathan Simon, 5-10 SG (All-State First Team);

OUTLOOK: The Eagles have split the FBAC Red crown with Troy Bethany each of the past two seasons and know enter the season as the favorite with the return of 10 lettermen and four starters. Simply put, RHC is more experienced and mature with some added height to its team resume. Could this be the team that makes its first run to the MACS Final Four since 1993?

SCHOOL: Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest

HEAD COACH: Dan Pontillo, fourth season.

2011-12 RECORD: 12-8,7-7 MIAC Blue Division (fourth).

STATE TOURNAMENT: Lost in Class C district opener to Southfield Bradford Academy (69-68).

RETURNING STARTERS: Nathan Drews, 6-1 sr. SG (All-Area Third Team; All-League); Joshua Morrison, 6-0 sr. G.

OTHER RETURNEES: Greg Maynard, 6-2 sr. F; Evan Rouce, 6-4 sr. F/C; Ian Wellhousen, 5-10 sr. G.

KEY NEWCOMERS: Jameson Collar, 6-5 jr. F/C; Kevin Klebba, 6-0 sr. G/F; Grant Wakefield, 6-0 sr. G/F; Alex Hammett, 6-0 sr. G; Jacob Holliday, 5-8 jr. PG; Justin Yousif, 6-0 jr. G; Eric Drews, 6-0 soph. G/F.

KEY LOSSES: Gursher Rathore, 6-1 F.

OUTLOOK: With most of its team back and some solid height and one of Oakland County’s best scorers, Northwest should finish in the top half of a loaded MIAC Blue Division.

SCHOOL: Troy

HEAD COACH: Gary Fralick, 26th season.

2011-12 RECORD: 17-6, 9-1 OAA White Division.

STATE TOURNAMENT: Lost in Class A district finals to Waterford Mott (51-46).

RETURNING STARTERS: Joe Leonard, 5-8 sr. G (9.5 ppg); Craig Duggan, 6-2 jr. G; Zak Noor,
6-0 sr. G.

OTHER RETURNEES: Ben Horvath, 6-2 sr. F; Danny Wunderlich, 6-2 jr. F.

KEY NEWCOMERS: Several newcomers on the Colts’ roster.

KEY LOSSES: James Young, 6-7 sr. G/F (transferred to Rochester; Mr. Basketball favorite); Jeff Holmes, 6-4 F.

OUTLOOK: Despite many quality players, Troy had its ups and downs last season, winning the league but losing in the districts despite being ranked in the AP Top 20. The Colts lost some players to disciplinary reasons and transfers during last season but withstood the storm to play strong throughout the second half of the regular season. With James young transferring over to Rochester, it leaves the Colts without a star in a year where they were promoted to the OAA-Red Division. Troy is still a quality team that will run and gun with a deep well of guards. The Colts could be better than advertised and should be a factor in the districts this season if they gel throughout the campaign.

SCHOOL: Troy Athens

HEAD COACH: Dave Scott, third season.

2011-12 RECORD: 15-7, 5-5 OAA Blue Division (third).

STATE TOURNAMENT: Lost in Class A district semifinals to Waterford Mott.

RETURNING STARTERS: Jeff Koch, 6-9 sr. C.

OTHER RETURNEES:  Tim Shayoka, 6-0 soph. G/F; John Van Hoef, 6-5 soph. F; Lucas Bezerra, 6-4 jr. F; Ethan Badertscher, 6-2 sr. G.

KEY NEWCOMERS: Mike William, 6-0 soph. PG; Zak Spryzak, 6-0 soph. F; Corbin Vrij, 6-5 soph. G/F; Devin Terry, 5-4 soph. G.

KEY LOSSES: Caleb McIntosh, 6-2 G/F (All-League; All-Area Third Team); Marcarious Coakley, 6-4 F (All-Area Second Team); Jeff Fox, 5-10 PG; Tim Frieman, 6-4 F.

OUTLOOK: The Red Hawks only return one starter and graduated eight total players, signaling a possible rebuilding season. Athens does have one of the top post players in the areas in Koch, a shot-blocking and rebounding force in the paint, while Shayoka will be a force to be reckoned with before season’s end. There are seven sophomores on varsity, so this team is definitely built for the future.

SCHOOL: Troy Bethany Christian

HEAD COACH: Jack Walker, 26th season.

2011-12 RECORD: 15-7, 7-1 FBAC Red Division (tied-first).

STATE TOURNAMENT: Lost in MACS Division I state semifinals to Temperance Stateline Christian.

RETURNING STARTERS: Ryan Woodham, 6-1 sr. G/F; Phil Drapinski, 5-10 jr. F.

OTHER RETURNEES: Bret Hayhurst, 5-9 sr.PG; Landon Cathers, 6-0 jr. F; Josh Grono, 5-10 sr. PG.

KEY NEWCOMERS: Drew Briel, 6-1 jr. F; Tyler Whitcomb, 5-10 jr. F; Scott N-Cho, 5-8 jr. PG; Devin Goff, 6-3 jr. C/F; Tim Sussman, 6-1 jr. C/F; Brendan Cathers, 5-11 soph. SG; Angelo Monsour, 5-7 soph. PG.

KEY LOSSES: Daniel Sprankle, 6-2 G/F; Ajay Solomon, 6-2 C; Everett Cooke, 6-1 F; Mark Bishop, 6-2 G; Tyler Parsons, 6-3 C (missed most of last season with injury). .

OUTLOOK: Bethany Christian should once again challenge for a league title, where they have or shared a conference crown in seven of the past eight seasons. In the MACS state tournament.

Lakecrest welcomes in a fine freshman class that could keep them competitive in the small-school circles of Michigan for the next four years.
