BOYS BASKETBALL: Adams cruises past Oxford; Lake Orion, Everest Collegiate win

ROCHESTER HILLS — Akhemji Williams as nearly unstoppable Friday night, as Rochester Adams cruised to a 71-44 OAA crossover boys basketball win over Oxford.

Williams, a junior guard, finished with a game-phigh 29 points, including four 3-pointers and 7-for-7 free throw shooting for the Highlanders (3-0). Senior forward Zack Littleson added 19 points with a trio of 3-pointers and Ben Limb tossed in nine points.

Adams led 12-8 after the first quarter and 30-19 at the half. The Highlanders blew the game open with a 26-15 run in the third quarter for a 56-34 advantage.

Sophomore guard Connor Elzerman swished a trio of 3-pointers and finished with 17 points to lead Oxford (2-2). Michel Censullo added seven points for the Wildcats.

LAKE ORION 55, BIRMINGHAM GROVES 53: Lake Orion withstood Groves’ late rally and 18-15 fourth quarter tlo upend the Falcons in OAA crossover play.

Chas Miller scored 15 to paceoLake Orion (3-0). Nate Marcum added 14 points, John McCarty added nine points and Jeremy King supplied eight points for the Dragons.

Kyle Ervin pumped in 22 points and John Ketai and Andrew Forbes scored eight apiece for the Falcons.

CLARKSTON EVEREST COLLEGIATE 42, MACOMB LUTHERAN NORTH 40: Lutheran North closed with a 15-9 fourth-quarter run but came up short in its bid to clip the Mountaineers.

Blake Beauchamp scored nine and both David Smith and Richie Cross scored eight apiece for Everest. Noah Beauchamp and Ben Marcial also contributed seven points each for the Mountaineers (3-1).

Zach Roose scored 12 and Trevor Mason added eight points for Lutheran North (2-2)

SOUTHFIELD CHRISTIAN 51, AUBURN HILLS OAKLAND CHRISTIAN 46: The defending Class D state champs used a 28-19 halftime lead to propel itself to this MIAC Blue Division victory Friday.

Lindsey Hunter scored 17 and Damarco White added 14 points for the Eagles.

Chris Polite scored 14and John VanNoord added 12 points for Oakland Christian (2-1, 0-1), which closed with a 27-23 run but could not complete the comeback.
AUBURN HILLS AVONDALE 73, PONTIAC NOTRE DAME PREP 62: Jabbar Mims scored 24 points and Treyvonn Munson added 12 points for Avondale. Zarrick Sturgis added nine points and Eric Stubbs chippedin with eight points for the Yellowjackets, which made 27-of-24 free throws.

Connor Verheyen scored 14 for Prep.
