THURSDAY’S GIRLS BASKETBALL: Lakes routs Shrine; Rochester Hills edges Troy Bethany

WATERFORD — Building a 36-point lead at the half, Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes had no problems Thursday of Royal Oak Shrine Catholic, topping the Knights 62-14 in CHSL C-D girls basketball play.

The Lakers (6-2, 2-0) led 17-4 after the first quarter and used a 25-3 surge in the second frame to blow the door open for a 43-7 halftime lead.

Waterford Lakes outscored Shrine 20-7 in the second half.

Ava Doetsch pumped in a game-high 22 points to go with seven rebounds and six assists for the Lakers. Lexie Robak added 16 points and Jessica Parry followed with 10  points for WOLL.

Abby Berhhard scored four for Shrine.                                    

ROCHESTER HILLS CHRISTIAN 36, TROY BETHANY CHRISTIAN 35: Rochester Hills Christian pulled into the sole lead in the FBAC with this narrow win over the host Bruins.

Ashley Parker collected 19 points and 17 rebounds to lead Rochester Hills Christian (8-1, 4-0), which won for the seventh straight game. Jenna Porter added nine points and eight rebounds and Kindra Armitage scored six points with four steals for the Eagles.

Sarah Bishop led the way with 18 points for Bethany Christian (2-3, 2-1).
