MONDAY’S GIRLS BASKETBALL: Everest grounds Cristo Rey; Lakes sink Shrine
CLARKSTON — Behind a 16-1 first quarter, Clarkston Everest Collegiate had no problems Monday with Detroit Cristo Rey.
The Mountaineers ended up with a convincing 53-13 CHSL victory.
Everest Collegiate (11-3) held Cristo Rey to five or less points in each quarter and led 33-4 at the half and 42-8 through three quarters.
Lucia Westrick scored a game-high 19 to pace Everest. Kersten Engle added nine points, while Sarina Nallamothu chipped in with seven points for the Mountaineers.
Chris Wary scored seven for Cristo Rey.
WATERFORD OUR LADY OF THE LAKES 49, ROYAL OAK SHRINE CATHOLIC 23: Lakes inched closer to a CHSL Intersectional Division title with this lopsided win Monday.
WOL led 15-4 after the first quarter and 32-8 at the half. The Lakers (11-2) outscored Shrine 17-15 in the second half to earn the series sweep.
Lexie Robak drained five 3-[pointers and finished with a game-high 21 points to lead the Lakers. Ava Doetsch added 10 points for WOLL, which sent nine players into the scoring column.
Julia Liggett scored eight for Shrine.
LAPEER FAITH HOME SCHOOL 41, ROCHESTER HILLS CHRISTIAN 39: Tina Caputo scored 13 points and Melissa Smith had 11 points to lead Lapeer Faith to the non-league win Monday.
The Falcons outscored Rochester Hills 20-18 in the second half.
Jenna Porter had 12 points and six rebounds to lead Rochester Hills Christian (9-4). Ashley Parker added 11 points and 15 rebounds, while Jill Porter had a season-high nine points in the loss.
