MONDAY’S GIRLS BASKETBALL: Troy Bethany downs Troy CLA

TROY — Troy Bethany Christian earned a much-needed victory over crosstown rival Troy Christian Leadership Academy in girls basketball action, topping the defenders, 34-23, in a non-conference matchup.

The Bruins outscored CLA in all four quarters, earning a 20-13 lead at the half.

Senior Lianna Sprankle led Bethany Christian (10-4) with a game-high 20 points. Junior Sarah Bishop added seven points for the Bruins.

CLA was led by Hannah Werner with 12 points, while Emily Porter scored six for the Defenders (5-10).
