MONDAY’S SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: Brandon sweeps rival Holly; Bayliss helps NDP gain upper hand on Lutheran North
HOLLY — Ortonville Brandon amassed 31 runs off Holly pitching Monday and the Blackawks rolled to a convincing sweep in flint Metro League softball action.
Brandon won Game 1 by a 16-0 count, while the Blackhawks took the nightcap 15-2. The two games featured a combined nine innings.
Katey Hendershott went 4-6 with two doubles and a triple on the day to lead Brandon (2-0, 2-0). The sophomore also fired a one-hitter with nine strikeouts in Game 1 for the Blackhawks.
Elizabeth Walls finished 5-for-6 at the plate with two doubles and two triples for Brandon.
Holly is 0-2 on the year and 0-2 in the Flint Metro.
PONTIAC NOTRE DAME PREP 4-7, MACOMB LUTHERAN NORTH 3-2: Victoria Bayliss provided a suicide squeeze that plated the game-winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning Monday as NDP won the opener.
The sophomore also struck out 11 to gain the win from the circle.
Bayliss finished 2-for-3 from the plate and scored three runs in the nightcap.
Lauren Perkins and Hannah Antosz both finished 2-for-3 and scored a run scored for the Fighting Irish.
