BASEBALL: Rochester Adams drops Troy for district crown

TROY — Rochester Adams jumped on Troy for five runs in the first inning Saturday and used the lead to propel itself to a Division 1 baseball district championship with a 5-2 victory over Troy.

Adams, which will face Rochester Stoney Creek in a regional semifinal Saturday at Rochester High, only had five hits on the day.

Mike Surinck led Adams, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Surinck helped his own cause by striking out four over seven innings of work, scattering seven hits and two earned runs against three walks for the Highlanders (17-18).

John Hunter finished 2-for-4 with an RBI for Troy (20-10), which scored its two runs in the second frame. The Colts amassed seven hits over seven innings.baseball - ball in mitt
