BOYS LACROSSE: Cranbrook snaps Notre Dame Prep’s 14-game win streak, wins regional crown

PONTIAC — Pontiac Notre Dame Prep was gunning for its third straight appearance in the boys lacrosse Division 2 Final Four. Longtime state powerhouse Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood had other ideas.

Cranbrook held off Notre Dame Prep, 13-10, Saturday afternoon, to win a regional crown and advance to next Wednesday’s state semifinals.

Matt Gamperoni led all Cranbrook scorers with four goals. Johnny Wagner added two goals and two assists, Chris Brown turned in three goals and one assist, Taylor Ghesquire had two goals, while Danny Ryan and Bennett Faliski each contributed one goal each for the Cranes.

Kyle Beauregard turned in three goals for the day to pace Notre Dame Prep.  Alec Naseef and Gavin Bertram each scored twice for the Irish, while Mark Thierbacker, Michael Daenzer and Shawn Potwardowski each had a goal apiece in the failed effort.
