SOFTBALL: Waterford Lakes cruises to district title
AUBURN HILLS — Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes tucked Auburn Hills Oakland Christian to bed quite early Monday afternoon.
The Lakers cruised past the Lancers, 17-0, in a Division 4 district final that was made up from Saturday and lasted just four innings. WOLL led 5-0 after one inning and 9-0 after two frames and never let off the gas until the mercy rule was placed into effect.
Abigayle Kline fired a no-hitter, striking out five with no walks.
At the plate, WOLL slapped 13 hits with six walks and 10 stolen bases.
Sarah Kowalczyk had a home run and scored three runs, Kathleen Bolen had two RBI and scored three runs for the Lakers. Angie Mastromatteo recorded two walks and added one hit for WOLL.
