BOYS SOCCER ROUNDUP: Clarkston blanks Adams on DeFinis’ two tallies; Rochester blanks Berkley; Avondale edges Seaholm

CLARKSTON — Joey DeFinis is in his third year with Clarkston. He has developed into one of the area’s premier snipers on the soccer pitch.
The junior forward reillerated that to Rochester Adams Tuesday.
DeFinis scored a goal in each half to lift the Wolves to a 2-0 OAA Red Division shutout of visiting Rochester Adams.
Taking a pass from Max Mansour, Definis scored what proved to be the game-winner in the seventh minute. DeFinis capped the scoring with a breakaway goal in the 55th minute for the Wolves.
Grant Gotaas made six saves in goal for the shutout for Clarkston (4-1-1, 1-0-1), which tied Rochester 0-0 in last week’s season opener.
Adams fell to 0-3-1, overall and 0-2-0 in league play.
ROCHESTER 3, BERKLEY 0: Rochester scored three times in the first half and cruised to the OAA Red Division triumph. Spiro Pliakos scored bookend goals while Thomas Forge added the other tally for the Falcons (4-1-1, 1-0-1). Jimmy Staghakios and Justin VanDyke drew assists and Mike Murri notched the shutout on eight saves for Rochester.
AUBURN HILLS AVONDALE 1, BIRMINGHAM SEAHOLM 0: Garrett Ritterhaus scored the game’s only goal in the 55th minute and Ben Richter made it stand with seven saves for Avondale (1-1-1). Stuart Russ picked up the assist for the Yellowjackets.
TROY ATHENS 2, WALLED LAKE NORTHERN 0: Luis Anaya scored two twice for Athens to keep the Red Hawks unbeaten at 6-0-0 on the season.. David Schmidt and Tyler Gasko each had assists, while Aaron Nufer made five saves for the shutout.
