FOOTBALL: Everest Collegiate continues to impress in debut campaign

MAYVILLE — Clarkston Everest Collegiate is only a first-year football program. Yet the penitential Mountaineers are flirting with a potential postseason berth.

Everest moved to 4-1 on the season Saturday with a resounding 42-12 non-league triumph over Mayville.

Ben Bellestri scored three rushing touchdowns on 6, 5 and 7 yards to lead the Mountaineers, who led 27-6 at the half and outscored the Tigers 15-6 in the second half.

Lucas Neme had 16 carries for 162 yards and one rushing touchdown, while Isaiah Hellner and Elliot Fenske added touchdown runs for the Moutaineers.football - line of scrimmage 2
