BOYS SOCCER: Athens doubles up U-D Jesuit; RHC trips up Davison Faith Baptist

TROY — Troy Athens moved to 16-0-0 on the season and continued to play like one of the state’s top teams with a 4-2 non-league triumph over Detroit U-D Jesuit Monday.

Bryan Lawson scored in the first half, while Lawson, Tyler Gasko and Massimo Barczys tallied for Athens in the second half.

Lawson also drew two assists, Luis Anaya added another assist and Aaron Nufer made seven saves for the win in goal.

Brandon Smith scored for U-D Jesuit (12-7-0).

ROCHESTER HILLS CHRISTIAN 2, DAVISON FAITH BAPTIST 1: Marques Hatcher headed in a cornerkick from Jesse Montgomery, while Montgomery scored the game-winner off a one-timer from just inside the 18-yard box for RHC in this FBAC Red Division showdown.

Jered Brown made 12 saves, including two in the final minute of play to preserve the win in a rematch of last season’s MACS Division I state title game.
