FOOTBALL: Lake Orion throttles Pontiac to clinch postseason berth; Avondale runs by Hazel Park
LAKE ORION — Lake Orion scored four touchdowns in the first quarter alone and never let up off the throttle in rolling over Pontiac, 62-13, in OAA Red Division football action Friday.
Dominick Giozinazzo led a balanced effort for Lake Orion by rolling up 95 yards on 12 carries and touchdowns runs of 70 and 17 yards in the rout for the Dragons (6-1, 5-1). Connor Grant finished 6-for-9 passing for 121 yards and a 15-yard TD pass to Zach Greene for the Dragons, who clinched their 14th postseason berth in the past 15 seasons.
Lake Orion scored 14 points in the second quarter for a commanding 42-0 lead at the half. The Dragons scored the only seven points of the third quarter, while both teams settled for 13 points in the final frame.
Chris Leigh added a 10-yard scoring run, Drew Casey returned an interception 70 yards for another score and Matt Krause plunged home from 2 yards out in the first half for Lake Orion.
Zachary Serzo scored on a 10-yard sprint midway through the third quarter to give the Dragons a 49-0 advantage before Pontiac scored two late touchdowns.

Pontiac’s Jalin Nealy carried the ball 27 times for 109 yards and touchdown runs of 5 and 1 yard for Pontiac (0-7, 0-6).
AUBURN HILLS AVONDALE 56, HAZEL PARK 22: Avondale defeated Hazel Park for the fourth straight time to pull to 3-4 overall in this OAA Blue Division contest Friday.
Junior tailback Josh Holloman had 125 rushing yards on five carries and plowed into the end zone three times in the victory for the Yellowjackets (3-4, 2-4). J.T. Ozerities returned a punt 54 yards, return a kickoff 91 yards and added a 50-yard TD sprint for Avondale.
