FOOTBALL: Notre Dame Prep downs Lutheran North to snap squid

PONTIAC Despite a two-game losing skid, Pontiac Notre Dame Prep was able to snap a two-game losing skid with a 40-28CHSL-AA Division victory Friday over Macomb Lutheran North.

Jermaih Johnson finished with 20 carries for 169 yards and scored on runs of 1, 12, 4 and 11 yards to pace NDP (5-2, 2-2). Anthony Gunn caught a 70-yard scoring toss from Brenden Newvine for the Irish, who trailed 14-7 after the first quarter.

Newvine added a 3-yard run and Taylor Timko was 4-for-5 on extra points for NDP.

NDP outscored the Mustangs 21-0 over the middle two quarters to take a 28-14 lead into the fourth frame. North outscored the Irish 14-12 in the fourth quarter. Notre Dame Prep finished with three interceptions on the night.

Trevor Mason scored on a 2-yard run and 82-yard run, William Kruse threw a 28-yard TD pass to Andy Bielecki and Mason also caught a late 3-yard scoring toss from Kruse for Lutheran North (3-4, 1-3).
