TUESDAY’S BOYS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Holly, Oak Park, Lake Orion all post victories

HOLLY — Following its first loss of the season, Holly had an offensive explosion Tuesday night with a 92-65 Flint Metro League victory over Clio Tuesday night.

Sophomore Kyle Woodruff hit a trio of three-pointers and scored 19 points to lead a balanced effort for the Bronchos (7-1, 7-0). Jake Daniels chipped in with 15 points and both Isaac Casillas and Logan Spiker followed with 13 points each for Holly.

The Bronchos led 23-14 after the first quarter and used a 28-15 run in the second quarter to build a comfortable 51-29 lead at the half. A 29-17 surge in the third quarter iced the game for Holly.

Chauncey Bryant (21 points) and Jaylon Arkwright (16 points) both reached double figures for Clio.

TROY ATHENS 56, OAK PARK 47: Mike Williams returned after a two-game game absence and scored 22 points in leading Athens to the OAA White Division win Tuesday over host Oak Park. John Van Hoef chipped in with 14 points and Zak Spruscak scored seven for the Red Hawks (7-2, 3-0). Antonio Davis scored 12 for Oak Park (3-3, 1-2).

LAKE ORION 48, BIRMINGHAM SEAHOLM 47: Damon Johnson scored 13 and Joe Turnbull added 11 points as Lake Orion pulled out the OAA White Division road win Tuesday. Nate Marcum followed with eight points for the Dragons (4-2, 2-1). Austin Roth paced Seaholm with 10 points.

WATERFORD OUR LADY OF THE LAKES 56, CLARKSTON EVEREST COLLEGIATE 27: Lakes erupted with a 24-6 run in the first quarter and cruised Tuesday to the CHSL-Intersectional Division win over the host Mountaineers. Nick Robak scored 18 points to lead the Lakers (5-4, 2-0), who led 36-13 at the half. Noah Beauchamp and Luke Allen both had five points for Everest.

SOUTHFIELD LATHRUP 51, ROCHESTER: 46 (OT): Jalen Thomas scored 14 and Frederick John added 13 points as host Lathrup rallied for the OAA red Division overtime win Tuesday at home. Mike Murri scored 14 for Rochester.

TROY 73, AUBURN HILLS AVONDALE 51:   Chris Dorsey scored a season-high 24 points with nine rebounds to lead Troy to the OAA White Division home win Tuesday. Vishnu Akella scored 14 for Avondale.

AUBURN HILLS OAKLAND CHRISTIAN 75, PLYMOUTH CHRISTIAN 41: Oakland Christian had little resistance Tuesday on the road in MIAC Blue Division play with this 24-point road win. Eric Unger scored 15 and Javarian Smith chipped in with 14 points for the Lancers (5-1, 2-1).

ROCHESTER STONEY CREEK 59, FERNDALE 46: Stoney Creek remained unbeaten in OAA Blue Division play with this 13-point road win Tuesday over the Eagles. Charlie Carson had 14 points, while Patrick Mertz added 10 points and 12 rebounds for Stoney Creek (6-1, 2-0).

PONTIAC NOTRE DAME PREP 63, DEARBORN DIVINE CHILD 59 (OT): Notre Dame Prep ventured on the road Tuesday and earned an overtime win in CHSL-AA Division play. Alex Stewart collected 26 points and Jermaih Johnson added 19 for Notre Dame Prep (4-4, 1-1).

ORTONVILLE BRANDON 59, LAPEER EAST 41: Nick Keller scored 17 and Chuckie Rice had 12 points, six rebounds and seven assists to help Brandon to the FML win. It marked the Blackhawks’ third straight win.
