CLARKSTON — Although fans had to wait 10 extra days for Clarkston and Pontiac to renew its boys basketball rivalry, they only had to wait one quarter to realize the outcome.

Clarkston outscored the visiting Phoenix 18-2 during the first six minutes of the first quarter and never looked back in routing Pontiac 58-26 in OAA Red Division play. The contest was a make-up game from erlier in Jan. 10.

Clarkston led 21-7 entering the second frame and never allowed Pontiac to post a threat.

Nick Owens nailed a trio of three-pointers and scored 14 points to pace Clarkston, which led comfortably at 32-12 at the half. That gave the Wolves the opportunity to play plenty of players in the second half.

Andrew Myers chipped in with 11 points, and both transfer Tabin Throgmorton and 6-foot-8 Mike Nicholson added 10 points apiece for Clarkston.

Vezzie Carthane scored six for Pontiac.
