COLLEGE MEN’S BASKETBALL: Rochester College pounds Maine-Fort Kent
FORT KENT, Maine — Rochester College wasted no time Monday against University of Maine-Fort Kent, building a 20-point halftime lead and coasting to a 77-57 non-conference men’s basketball win.
The Warriors (12-4) led 37-17 at the half before trading off 40 points with MFK in the second half.
Stavros Schizas poured in a game-high 24 points to lead Rochester College. Evan Walker added 14 points, Jereon DeBaat followed with 12 points and Matt Gold scored seven with four assists for the Warriors, who led by as many as 31 points in the contest.
Fred Sanchez led MFK with 16 points and Jeremy bishop added 12 points.
COLLEGE WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
ROCHESTER COLLEGE, MAINE-FORT KENT 72: Rochester College outscored the hosts 47-39 in the second half to earn this eight-point non-league road win Monday.
The Warriors were tied at 33-33 with MFK at the half.
Ke’Ala Ka’Aikala scored 22 points with 14 rebounds and three blocks for Rochester College. Jazzmone Russell added 15 points with six boards, Megan Heiden chipped in with 11 points and seven rebounds and Emily Hale added 10points and 10 rebounds for the Warriors.
Danielle Carrillo led four MFK players in double figures with 18 points.
