BOYS BASKETBALL: Rochester Adams upsets Bloomfield Hills in overtime
BLOOMFIELD HILLS — The return of Akhemji Williams and the heroics for Thomas Girdler helped Rochester Adams upset OAA Red Division league-leader Bloomfield Hills Friday night, 87-85, in overtime.
Girdler hit a three-pointer from the left corner as time expired for the game-winning basket. Girdler finished with 12 points, while Williams netted a game-high 31 points for the Highlanders, who outscored the Blackhawks 16-14 in the extra session.
Adams led 32-29 at the half and 47-46 through three quarters of play. The Blackhawks closed regulation with a 25-24 edge in the fourth quarter.
Spencer Littleson added 11 points and Cole Davis, Brandon Barrows and Joey Ziniti all scored 10 each for Adams (8-3, 5-2), which had six players in double figures overall.
Yante Maten, Bloomfield hills’ 6-fvoot-9 center, scored 28 for the Blackhawks. Khalil Gracey added 27 points and Armand Cartwright scored 15 for Bloomfield Hills (10-2, 5-2).
