GIRLS BASKETBALL: Holly snaps Brandon’s streak at five; Everest edges Cranbrook

HOLLY — Ortronville Brandon had won five straight entering Friday. Unbeaten Holly quickly put an end to that impressive streak.

The Bronchos used a 16-2 third-quarter spurt to pull away for a 38-21 Flint Metro League girls basketball win to keep their stranglehold on the league lead.

Allyssa Copley scored 14 and both Kaitlyn Smith and Brooke Jackman added eight points apiece for Holly.

Amanda Harvard scored 11 for Brandon, which found itself tied with Holly at 13-13 at the half.

CLARKSTON EVEREST COLLEGIATE 73, BLOOMFIELD HILLS CRANBROOK KINGSWOOD 44: Lucia Westrick led three Mountaineers in double figures Friday with 27 points in this CHSL win. Angie Mastromatteo added 16 points and Ashley Lowney scored 12 for Everest Collegiate, which led 40-28 at the half and56-39 through three quarters of play. Jamie Beckett scored 22 and Lexi Dietz added 17 points on the strength of five 3-pointers for Cranbrook.

FARMINGTON HILLS HARRISON 43, STONEY CREEK 38: Amber Stephens scored 22 and both Kyla Roland and Kristen Nelson added seven points for Harrison in this OAA Red Division win. Emma Sobczynski scored nine points for Stoney Creek (10-3, 5-3).
