GIRLS BASKETBALL: Oxford grounds Rochester; Holly, RH Christian, Athens cruise to wins
ROCHESTER HILLS — Oxford ventured onto the road Tuesday and found success.
The Wildcats down Rochester, 45-34, in OAA White division play to stay in the top half of the league.
Skye Donaldson played all 32 minutes and collected a workmanship-like 17 points, five rebounds and four assists to pace Oxford (10-5, 5-5).
Samantha Medici added 11 points and Jessica Murphy had a fine floor game with 10 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals for the Wildcats.
Leading 21-16 at the half, the Wildcats used a 24-18 second half to pull away.
Oxford will face unbeaten Rochester Adams Friday.
HOLLY 51, LAPEER EAST 18: Holly blasted out to a 16-6 lead after the first quarter and held visiting Lapeer East scoreless in the second frame in posting in this Flint Metro League rout Tuesday. The Bronchos, who led 32-6 at the half, was paced by Kaitlyn Smith’s 11 points in the rout. Katie Ordiway and Abby Lewandowski added eight points each and Paige Reid (seven points) and Allyssa Copley (six points) contributed to Holly’s win. Alexis Fisher scored six for Lapeer East.
ROCHESTER HILLS CHRISTIAN 71, BURTON GENESEE CHRISTIAN 31: Jenna Porter torched the net for a game-high 30 points and four assists in leading the Eagles to the non-league win Tuesday. Courtney Patton added 11 points and 10 steals, and Ashley Parker collected 10 points, 15 rebounds and four blocked shots for Rochester Hills Christian (13-0).
TROY ATHENS 51, BERKLEY 48: Kasey Joslin scored a game-high 20 points and MaryGrace Stark added 10 points to lead Athens to the OAA blue Division win. Lauren Genereau added six points for the Red Hawks.. Celia Somers scored 13 points and Emily Koerner followed with 11 points for Berkley.
