FRIDAY’S GIRLS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Adams remains perfect by bouncing Oxford; Avondale cruises past Pontiac; Lake Orion swamps Groves

ROCHESTER HILLS — When Rochester Adams and Oxford faced off less than one month ago in the sport of girls basketball, the Highlanders escaped with a n arrow victory in overtime.

This time it was not so close.

The undefeated Highlanders built a 26-8 lead at the half, keeping the Wildcats off the scoreboard for the first nine minutes of the game, and cruised to a commanding 43-20 victory in OAA White Division play.

Amber Jamison scored a game-high 20 points, equaling Oxford’s total, to pace Adams (15-0, 11-0), which outscored the Wildcats 17-12 in the second half. Raiven Owusu added 16 points for the Highlanders.

Only four Wildcats (9-6, 5-6) even reached the scoring column, with Sam Medici leading the way with 11 points. Jessica Murphy was held in check with five points for Oxford.

AUBURN HILLS AVONDALE 58, PONTIAC 32: Avondale built a 13-7 lead after the first quarter and led 34-12 at the break in cruising to this OAA Red Division win Friday. Aliayah Mason led a balanced effort for the Yellowjackets with nine points, while Alaya Mason added eight points and Addie Saltarelli seven points for Avondale (3-12, 2-6), which held a 24-20 edge in the second half. Kashianique Green scored 16 and Infinnatti Rowe added 13 points for Pontiac (0-9, 0-5).

LAKE ORION 53, BIRMINGHAM GROVES 20: It was all Dragons breathing fire Friday, as Lake Orion built a commanding 29-13 lead at the half and never looked back in recording this OAA White Division triumph. A total of 11 Dragons reached the scoring column, paced by Evelyn Wishmeyer’s nine points. Nicole Krier added eight points and Hannah Hamay chipped in with seven points for Lake Orion (9-6, 5-5), which held Groves (2-12, 0-8) to only seven second-half points.

ROCHESTER HILLS CHRISTIAN 48, NOVI HOME SCHOOL: Rochester Hills Christian remained unbeaten with this non-conference victory Friday over the Firebirds. Jenna Porter scored 17 points, Ashley Parker chipped in with 12 points, 16 rebounds and four blocks, and Kindra Armitage scored eight points for the Eagles (14-0).

FENTON 55, ORTONVILLE BRANDON 47: Fenton pulled away in the second half to record this FML home win Friday. Cassandra Reuschlein  scored 14 and Hannah Evo added 12 points for the Tigers. Amanda Harvard scored 16 and Katelyn Hendershott had 13 points for Brandon.

HOLLY 58, LINDEN 39: Alyssa Copley scored 16 points Friday in leading Holly to this 19-point Flint Metro League win. Abby Lewandowski added 10 points and Kaitlyn Smith scored eight for the Bronchos, who led 30-14 at the half and outscored the Eagles 22-7 in the third quarter to break the game wide open.
