BOYS BASKETBALL: Elzerman drops 42 points as Oxford outlasts Hazel Park
OXFORD — Connor Elzerman had a career night Tuesday.
The junior from Oxford scored a game-high 42 points, one of the highest single-game point totals in school history, in leading Oxford to a 72-66 victory over Hazel Park in an OAA Blue Division contest.
The guard made nine two-pointers, canned for three-pointers and finished a crisp 12-for-13 from the foul line for the Wildcats.
Jamal Thomas added eight points and Delzino Alexander scored seven for Oxford.
The Wildcats led 19-13 after the first quarter and 36-29 at the half. Hazel Park used a 22-20 third quarter to close the gap down to 56-51.
Oxford closed out with a 16-15 edge in the fourth quarter.
Julius Giles scofred 15, Gary Tymer drilled a trio of three-pointers and finished with 13 points and Qinten Pearson scored nine points for Hazel Park.
