GIRLS BASKETBALL: Holly remains perfect with rout of Linden

LINDENHolly made sure there was not a playoff hiccup Wednesday night.

After going a perfect 20-0 in the regular season, the Bronchos won their 21st straight game with a 60-40 rout of host Linden in a Class A district semifinal.

Holly (21-0) jumped out to a 23-4 lead after the first quarter and never allowed the Eagles to post any type of threat. A 17-7 run in the second quarter pushed the lead to 40-11 at the half.

The rout continued in the third quarter, as the Bronchos edged Linden 10-8 for a 50-19 lead.

Allyssa Copley led Holly with 19 points, nine rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block for good measure. Jenna Pepper added 10 points, three assists and three steals, while Paige Reid had 10 points and three assists for the Bronchos. Abby Lewandowski added eight points and Kaitlyn Smith scored six for Holly.

Sterling DeGeyney scored five for Linden.

CLARKSTON 41, OXFORD 36: After needing double overtime Monday night, Clarkston had to work nearly as hard before ousting visiting Oxford in this Class A district semifinal.

Oxford led 22-15 at the half, only to see the state-ranked Wolves go on a 26-14 edge in the second half, including a 18-2 run in the third quarter.

The Wildcats (14-7) cut the deficit down to four points late in the contest but could not get any closer.

Erika Davenport paced Clarkston with 25 points, while Kacy Robinson added eight points for the Wolves (18-4).

Jessica Murphy scored 19 points and Skye Donaldson added nine points for Oxford.
