BASEBALL: Stoney Creek rips Parkway Christian
ROCHESTER HILLS — Rochester Stoney Creek finally gained some time on the baseball diamond Tuesday and the Cougars seized the moment with an 8-2 triumph over Sterling Heights Parkway Christian.
Joe Cox gained the win on the bump, scattering one hit and one earned run with three strikeouts in relief of Eric Gilgenbach, who struck out seven and gave up one hit in three innings. Joe Hamrick also pitched two frames, striking out five.
Noah Beck led the Cougars’ offensive showcase, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, a double, one home run and two stolen bases. Ian Lustila scored twice and had two hits and an RBI for the CVougars, who plated four runs in the second inning, two in the third, one in the fourth and one in the sixth inning.
Stoney Creek collected nine hits on the day, while Parkway had only two hits over seven innings.
