ROCHESTER HILLS — Oakland University’s Travis Bader will participate in the State Farm College 3-Point Championship on Thursday, April 3, at SMU’s Moody Coliseum on ESPN at 9 p.m. ET.

Bader, a native of Okemos, Mich., broke the all-time NCAA record with 504 3-pointers made.

“It’s an honor to be chosen to compete in the 3-point championship,” said Bader. “I’m proud to represent Oakland University and compete against some of the best shooters in college basketball.”

Bader led the Golden Grizzlies with 20.6 points per game and a single-season school record 147 triples this season. That mark ranks second all-time in Horizon League history and he finished second in the league in scoring. Bader garnered All-Horizon League First Team accolades and was an All-NABC first team selection for the second straight season. Along with holding the all-time NCAA mark for 3-pointers made, he also broke the record in attempts with 1,246.

After leading the country with 4.2 3-pointers made last season (139), Bader finished second this year with 4.5 made per game. He broke the single-season school record with a .943 free-throw percentage, which finished second in the NCAA. Bader also tied the all-time school record with 137 games played and set the all-time record in free-throw percentage at .878 (441-502).

Bader scored an OU Division I record 2,351 points, second all-time in program history. He holds the single-game school record with 11 3-pointers made versus IUPUI last season and made 10 triples in two games this year against Eastern Michigan (Dec. 21, 2013) and Cleveland State (Feb. 6). He appeared on ESPN’s SportsCenter Top10 plays on two separate occasions this year.

Bader becomes the second Oakland player to compete in the NCAA 3-Point Championship. Former standout Erik Kangas (2005-09) competed in 2009 at The Palace of Auburn Hills, finishing runner-up.
