NOTES: Avondale drops back to Division 2 this season. The Yellowjackets were fifth in 2011 and state champions in 2012, both in D-2, only to see a slight enrollment increase last school year that bumped them up to D-1. This year, Avondale should be in the thick of the league race and quite capable of another top-10 state-meet finish thanks to a small group of big-meet performers and some quality up-and-comers.
Auburn Hills Oakland Christian
HEAD COACH: Sean Brandon, first season.
2013 DUAL MEET RECORD: Not available.

KEY LOSSES: Chris Polite (middle distance, sprints).
NOTES: A new coaching staff inherits most of the roster that posted top-five finishes at both the league meet and regional meet last season, as well as welcoming in a quality freshman class with potential. At the small-school level, the Lancers should be competitive.
Clarkston
HEAD COACH: John Bennick, seventh season.
2013 DUAL MEET RECORD: 4-0-1, 4-0-1 OAA Red Division.
LEAGUE MEET: Second at OAA Red Division meet (124.33 points); second in final standings (10.5 points).

NOTES: With 119 athletes on the roster, including 22 letterwinners back from last year, and Clarkston should be a threat for a high finish at the league, regional and county levels. There is also a band of athletes that might be able to crack the scoring column at the state meet if all goes well at season’s end.

NOTES: The Lakers enjoyed one of their best seasons to date last spring, winning its first regional crown. A large class graduated, leaving opportunity for several freshmen and sophomores to make their mark. There is still a cast of holdover that will score their fair share of points, so the drop will not be too significant.
Holly
HEAD COACH: Rob Basydlo.
2013 DUAL MEET RECORD: 8-0-0, 8-0-0 Flint Metro League.
LEAGUE MEET: Second at Flint Metro League meet (144.5 points); tied with Linden for overall league championship.

KEY LOSSES: Sean Barr (hurdles); Evan Papuga (sprints); John Williams (sprints).
NOTES: Despite losing three quality sprinters, Holly already defeated beat Linden by 30 points this season and is poised to make another league title run. With 70 athletes on the team, including several from a cross country team that qualified for the state finals last fall, plus multiple point scorers back in uniform, and the Bronchos will be a team that should win another league crown and finish high at multiple invitationals.
Lake Orion
HEAD COACH: Stan Ford, 13th season as head coach
2013 DUAL MEET RECORD: 4-0-1, 4-0-1 OAA Red Division.
LEAGUE MEET: First at OAA Red Division meet (140 points); first in final standings (11.5 points).
REGIONAL MEET: First at D-1 Ortonville Brandon regional (104.5 points).
COUNTY MEET: First (63 points).
OTHER INVITATIONALS: Won Oxford Invitational; won Ortonville Brandon Invitational; finished second at Birmingham Groves Invitational.
STATE FINALS: Third at D-1 state meet (29 points).

DISTANCES: Andrew Lorant, soph.; Jonah Forystek, sr.; Jack Everts, fr.; Michael Jarvis, fr.; Jacob Ernatt, soph.; Joish Moats, jr.
KEY LOSSES: TJ Carey (state champion in 1,600; runner-up anchor in 3,200 relay; SEC Freshman of the Year in cross country); David Arenz (All-State in 3,200 relay; state qualifier in 1,600).; Jordan Waymar (All-State in 110 hurdles, 300 hurdles); Chris Leigh, sr. (sprinter not competing; state qualifier in multiple events last season); Matt Krause, jr. (sprinter not competing); Steven Miller (throws); Joe Deneau (high jump, sprints); Josh Cromie (long jump); John Ryan (hurdles); Anthony Gerard (middle distance); Allen Karrip (sprints); Adam Augustyniak (middle distance).
NOTES: The Dragons won the state title two years ago and might have won last year except for a rash of injuries to the team’s top four sprinters dropped them down to third at the state finals. This season Lake Orion is not as strong but has enough firepower to contend at every meet it enters and could very well be a top-10 team in the state by season’s end. The future is also bright, as Lake Orion won the freshman county meet last season, while Lake Orion Oakview Middle School was the middle school Oakland County champion to boot.
Ortonville Brandon
HEAD COACH: Steve Hendershott.

THROWS: Wyatt Wilson, jr.
HURDLES: Ethan Verstraepe, jr.
SPRINTS: Jacob Phelps, jr.; Matt Sears, sr. (all-league in football and wrestling); Alec Dubay, sr.; Nolan Tews, fr.; Jared Klanke, fr.; Kevin Bickett, fr.
MIDDLE DISTANCES: Tars Thronson, sr.; Sam Toward, sr. (Lawrence Tech); Collin Hooker, jr.; Kyle Doyon, sr.; Vincent Fochesato, jr.
DISTANCES: Colin Hooker, jr.; Andrew Skelly, jr.; Nick VanGilder, sr.; Tommy Haase, soph.; Averey Teberian, soph.
KEY LOSSES: Cody Haragos (pole vault); Derek Klanke (state qualifier in 100 meters); Robert Fisher (sprints).
NOTES: With only 50 athletes on the team, depth in certain areas might be a problem, but with 20 letterwinners back, plus a nice crop of freshmen, and finishing in the top half of the FML is a reasonable goal.
Oxford
HEAD COACH: Matt Johnson, second season.
2013 DUAL MEET RECORD: 2-3-0, 2-3-0 OAA Red Division.
LEAGUE MEET: Fourth at OAA Red Division meet (56 points); fourth in final league standings.

MIDDLE DISTANCES: Armando Vega, soph.; Bryce Clark, sr.; Sean Terry, soph.; Adam Kemp, sr.; Michael Sovis, jr.; Luke Powers, jr.; Tyler Kwapis, jr.; Riley Feeney, jr.; Jacob Peterson, jr.; Tony Sands, jr.; Christian Corrion, jr.
DISTANCES: Jacob Schenten, sr.; Christian Corrion, jr.; Joey Ufolla, sr.; Gabe Hogan, soph.; Bradley Vandecaar, soph.; Logan Bruni, jr.; Noah Jenkins, sr.
KEY LOSSES: Mike Tuski (middle distance); Robbie Norfolk (high jump, sprints); Jerred Butler (middle distance); Ryan Gillespie (distance);
NOTES: Oxford made great strides with a young team last season. Now with 80 athletes on the team and only four point scorers departed from last season, and the Wildcats will see a major uptick in success from last year.
Pontiac
HEAD COACH: James Nelson
2013 DUAL MEET RECORD: 1-5-0, 1-5-0 OAA Gold Division.
LEAGUE MEET: Sixth at OAA Gold Division meet (36 points); tied for fifth in final league standings.
REGIONAL MEET: 13th at D-1 Ortonville Brandon regional (17 points).
COUNTY MEET: Tied-32nd (three points).
STATE FINALS: Did not score.
JUMPS: Unavailable.
THROWS: Moses Miles, sr.; Kevin Thao, fr.
HURDLES: Nicholas Reid, jr.; Tyron Logan, soph.; Baldemar Flores, fr.
SPRINTS: Davion Logan, sr.; Nicholas Reid, jr.; Daquarius Holis, sr.; Alfonso Hernandez, soph.
MIDDLE DISTANCES: Daquarius Holis, sr.; Clarence Farmer, soph.; Jorge Acevedo, fr.; Ja’Mar Antwine, jr.; Jamar Champele, jr.; Davion Logan, sr.
KEY LOSSES: Tarentay Washington (hurdles).
NOTES: James Nelson, who stepped away from coaching six years ago after coaching for more than three decades in the Pontiac district, is back to lead the young Phoenix. Although there are around 40 athletes on the team, a spike up from last season, and some quality athletes, Pontiac is far from their glory days from Pontiac Northern and Pontiac Central in the 1980s and 1990s. Seeing a major improvement from last season is a reachable goal for this young and unproven bunch of athletes.
Pontiac Academy for Excellence
HEAD COACH: Unavailable.
2013 DUAL MEET RECORD: Unavailable, Independent.
LEAGUE MEET: Independent.
REGIONAL MEET: 15th at Macomb Lutheran North regional (three points).

KEY LOSSES: Troy Kaufmann (distance); Luke Brennen (middle distances).
NOTES: John Barabee takes over the program that has many question marks. The Irish do have one of the state’s better sprinters (Schwegman), who placed at the state meet in his first season running track. Beyond that, there’s multiple underclassmen that are waiting in the wings trying to make their mark.
Rochester
HEAD COACH: Gary Cousino, sixth season as head coach
2013 DUAL MEET RECORD: 1-4-0, 1-4-0 OAA Red Division.

DISTANCES: James Schuler, sr.; Dillon Smith, jr.; Kyle Repetto, jr.; Kyle Lawton, sr.; Kyle Johnson, fr.; Kushal Jaligama, jr.; Shane Skelcy, soph.; Sam Maletesta, soph.
KEY LOSSES: Blake Pozolo (state qualifier in 3,200); LeaKaith Cunningham (sprints); Keaton Hallman (throws); Manny Mendoza (throws, high jump, sprints); Devin Ritchie (sprints); Jacob Van Dyke (middle distance); KJ Washington (middle distance).
NOTES: With 85 athletes, Rochester has its largest team in over a decade and should battle with Rochester Adams and Oxford for third place in the OAA-Red. Overall, the Falcons are simply better than last year, with two-thirds of their point scorers back and several newcomers or young athletes that are slated for big years.
Rochester Adams
HEAD COACH: Eric Lohr, third season as head coach.
2013 DUAL MEET RECORD: 3-2-0, 3-2-0 OAA Red Division
LEAGUE MEET: Third at OAA Red Division meet (115 points).

HURDLES: Jordan Shive, sr. (All-State in 300 hurdles; 1,600 relay); Lucas Adgate, fr.
SPRINTS: Julian McNeir-Sharp, jr.; Greg Boileau, jr.; Ben Iaderosa, sr.; Ryan Asif, sr.; Clarence Broadnax, jr.; Julian Benivides, jr.; Paul Moceri, jr.
MIDDLE DISTANCES: Zach Limb, sr. (All-State in 1,600 relay; All-State in soccer); Jordan Shive, sr.; Brant Santana, sr. (All-State in 1,600 relay); Jeff Iaderosa, sr.; Nathan Stadwick, jr.; Jacob Petersmark, jr.; Colin Crusoe, soph.
DISTANCES: Matt Schram, fr. (state qualifier in cross country); Adam Beck, jr.; Nick Schram, fr.; Peter Pkac, jr.; Mason Williams, soph.; Matt Schiller, soph.; Nathan Stadwick, jr.
KEY LOSSES: Avery Taylor (All-State in 1,600 relay; state qualifier in 400); Stephen Biebelhausen (All-State in 3,200, cross-country); Connor Stevens (state qualifier in 800, 1,600 relay); Alex Tzonev (high jump); Andrew Dunbar (hudles); Michael Gaduski (middle distance); Charlie Turcotte (distance); Ian Dvorak (throws).
NOTES: While Adams lost eight point scorers to graduation, there is still plenty of holdover talent, plus a nice looking freshman class, that will kepp the Highlanders competitive. There is a also a solid group of big-meet point producers that will keep Adams on the radar.
Rochester Stoney Creek
HEAD COACH: Paul Duffy, 12th season as head coach
2013 DUAL MEET RECORD: 0-5-0, 0-5-0 OAA Red Division.
LEAGUE MEET: Fifth at OAA Red Division meet (33.33 points).

MIDDLE DISTANCES: Eric Boyle, sr.; Alex Landuyt, jr.; Chris Dibble, sr.; Jack Lucci, jr.; Fedrico Kulyckyj, jr.; Pablo Kulyckyj, fr.
DISTANCES: Eric Boyle, sr.; Alex Landuyt, jr.; Casey Neal, jr.; Andrew LaJoie, jr.; Adam Freer, jr.; Jacob Bozeman, jr.; Jon DiLorenzo, jr.

NOTES: Seven of the Cougars; top athletes graduated from a team that finished in the bottom of the OAA-Red and there are some depth issues. Stoney Creek may struggle in the league again and will look to multiple non-seniors for point production in a league where most teams bring back a ton of talent.
Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest

KEY LOSSES: Jordan Dello (throws); Christian Przeslawski (middle distance); Josh Rusgo (distance); Joe Leonard (sprints); Fletcher Link (sprints); Quincy Taylor (sprints).
NOTES: Troy lost three close dual meets last season and should see improvement in the OAA-White as a bulk of their top athletes return. The Colts will compete with balance and a couple of frontrunners will be threats to make the state meet.

2013 DUAL MEET RECORD: 1-4-0, 1-4-0 OAA Blue Division.

SPRINTS: Unavailable.
MIDDLE DISTANCES: John Ghaly, sr.;
DISTANCES: Ryan Mooney, jr.; Noah Leong, fr.; Christian McAlister, sr.; Brian Bowles, soph.; Phil Reynolds, jr.; Alex Beyer, fr.
KEY LOSSES: Joe Shields (Sprints); Anthony Ward (discus state qualifier); Ethan. Badertscher (high jump state qualifier); Damon Whitney (throws).
NOTES: Athens has over 70 athletes on the team and is looking for some young athletes to step up and produce. The Red Hawks graduated their only two state qualifiers but only lost a small core of point scorers to graduation. Could an step up the standings be in store for the Red Hawks?
