SOFTBALL: Clarkston rolls to sweep of Oxford

CLARKSTON — Behind a 14-hit attack, Clarkston scored 12 runs in the first four innings to down Oxford 12-0 in an OAA crossover softball contest. The Wolves also won the nightcap, 7-1.

Candace Kitchen had two hits, scored three times and drove home two more runs to lead Clarkston. Mariah Hood had two hits and scored twice,, Abby Skvarce and Maddy Scarsella both added two hits apiece, while Skvarce had two RBI in the mercy-shortened game. Victoria Wycoff drove home four runs off a third-inning grand slam for Clarkston.

Kitchen fanned eight and gave up two hits over five innings of work to gain the win from the circle.

Jesse Ubbing took the loss for Oxford, while Cheryl Banas went 1-for-2 and Skye Donaldson went 1-for-1 for the Wildcats.

In Game 2, Cheryl Banas finished 1-for-4, Jordyn Zyngier and Claire Hermanson both went 1-for-3 and Ashley Szymanski went 1-for-3 with one RBI for Oxford.baseball - ball in grass
