GIRLS SOCCER: Timko, Klei pace NDP past Richmond; Avondale edges Farmington; Stoney Creek, Rochester roll

PONTIAC — Taylor Timko scored three goals and added three assists and Lindsey Klei added two goals and two more assists, as Division 3 top-ranked Pontiac Notre Dame Prep opened up the postseason with an 8-0 shutout of Richmond.

Bella Galloway added two goals, Haley Hershey scored a goal with two assists and Megan Kraus recorded her 13th shutout of the season with three saves for the Fighting Irish (16-2-1). It was Hershey’s first goal of the season.

DIVISION 2

AUBURN HILLS AVONDALE 4, FARMINGTON 3: Freshman Katelyen Mather scored the game-winner in the 73rd minute, as Avondale rallied back from a 2-1 deficit to earn this Division 2 pre-district win and advance to Thursday’s district semifinals against top-ranked Birmingham Marian. Tailer Mathes picked up the assist on the game-winner. Madison Duncan added two goals and an assist for Avondale (9-5-4), while Mathes had Avondale’s third goal. Katie Nutall recorded the hat trick for Farmington.

DIVISION 1                                                                                         

ROCHESTER STONEY CREEK 7, OXFORD 0: Madison Schubach had two goals and an assist to pace Stoney Creek to this lopsided Division 1 pre-district win over host Oxford. Maria Zanbi added a goal and three assists for the third-ranked Cougars, who will face eighth-ranked Rochester Adams at 7 p.m. Thursday at Utica in the district semifinals.

ROCHESTER 4, ROMEO 0: Rochester had a difficult time finding the back of the net during the regular season, but took advantage of its scoring opportunities Tuesday in this Division 1 pre-district contest against host Romeo. The Falcons will face state-ranked Utica Eisenhower in the district semifinals at 5 p.m. Thursday at Utica Eisenhower.

WATERFORD MOTT 2, CLARKSTON 1: Jamie Carter scored both goals to lead Mott past host Clarkston in this Division 1 pre-district. Olivia Mayer and Casey Thorn drew assists for Mott. Jenna Mather scored for Clarkston.

UTICA EISENHOWER 4, LAKE ORION 0: Eisenhower cruised to this Division 1 pre-district win at home Tuesday over Lake Orion.

TROY ATHENS 2, BIRMINGHAM GROVES 1: Troy Athens advanced to the Division 1 district semifinals with this narrow win Tuesday over the host Falcons.soccer - balls on field
