BOYS SOCCER: Roeper pounces on Oakland Christian for district crown
AUBURN HILLS — Over the past quarter contrary, Birmingham Roeper and Auburn Hills Oakland Christian have put together several classic battles on the soccer pitch, both in the regular season and in the postseason.
Saturday was not one of them.
Senior striker Max Whipple was a one-man wrecking crew by blasting home five goals in a 7-0 Roeper victory over host Oakland Christian in a Division 4 district championship.
Jake Flynn and Simon Roennecke both finished with a goal and had an assist for the fourth-ranked Roughriders (19-1-0), while goalie Calvin Lind made five saves for his ninth shutout of the year
Roeper will faceAnn Arbor Greenhills at 4 p.m. Wednesday in a D-4 regional semifinal at Allen Park Inter-City Baptist.
