BOYS SOCCER: Bethany Christian advances to MACS-I state finals; Oakdale edges Immanuel to reach MACS-II championship match

TEMPERANCE — Troy Bethany Christian advanced to the Michigan Association of Christian Schools Division I final with a 4-0 shutout of host Temperance Stateline Christian in the state semifinals.

JT Bishop scored his 14th and 15th goals of the season to pace the Bruins (14-2-0). Tim Blake and Nico Thomas (nine goals) also scored and Zac Goldsmith had two assists for Bethany Christian, who will face top-ranked Clinton Township Faith Christian at 1 p.m. Saturday at Clarkston Springfield Christian.

Freshman Connor Smith recorded the clean sheet between the pipes, his third straight.

WATERFORD OAKDALE CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 3, CORUNNA IMMANUEL CHRISTIAN 2: Oakdale advanced to the MACS Division II state finals for the second straight season with this narrow win over Immanuel Christian.

Nate Gendich scored the game winner for the Patriots.

Oakdale will face Milford West Highland Christian, 8-0 winners over Vassar Juniata Christian in the other semifinal, in the state finals Saturday at Clarkston Springfield Christian at 10 a.m.

MACS STATE QUARTERFINALS

TROY BETHANY CHRISTIAN 8, BRIDGEPORT BAPTIST 0: Junior forward broke free for five goals, giving him 33 on the season, and the third-seeded Bruins cruised to the Michigan Association of Christian Schools Division I state quarterfinals win at home.

Senior JT Bishop scored twice and Nico Thomas scored the other goal in the contest called due to the mercy rule in the 61st minute.

Connor Smith picked up the shutout between the pipes.

MILFORD WEST HIGHLAND CHRISTIAN 6, WATERFORD LAKECREST BAPTIST 0: The Defenders were no match for West Highland in this recent MACS Division II state quarterfinals matchup in Highland Township.

TEMPERANCE STATELINE CHRISTIAN 6, LAKE ORION BAPTIST 0: The second-seeded Patriots had little resistance from the Lions in this MACS Division I state quarterfinals contest Tuesday.

WATERFORD OAKDALE CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 8, SAGINAW SHIELDS COMMUNITY BAPTIST 0: This MACS Division II state quarterfinals ended via mercy rule Tuesday.

MACS ROUND OF 16

DAVISON FAITH BAPTIST 5, ROCHESTER HILLS CHRISTIAN 4: Faith Baptist outscored Rochester Hills in this first-round game to advance to the second round in the MACS Division I state tournament.

GAYLORD GRACE BAPTIST 5, CLARKSTON SPRINGFIELD CHRISTIAN 4: The Crusaders outlasted the Eagles in the recent MACS Round of 16 contest.

Luke Hagland scored two goals, while Ethan Butler, Corbin Soper and Brian Vest also scored for Grace Baptist.
