BOYS BASKETBALL: Rochester Hills Christian ousts Stateline Christian to reach MACS Division I state finals

DAVISON — With the top four seeds showing to be near-images of one another this season, the race to the Michigan Association of Christian Schools Division I state title game was wide open when the state tournament began earlier this month.

Rochester Hills Christian made sure it would be playing on the season’s final day.

The top-seeded Eagles advanced to the state finals for the fifth straight season and seventh time overall Friday night by downing Temperance Stateline Christian, 69-56, in the state semifinals at Davison Faith Baptist.

Ryan Patton scored 34 to lead Rochester Hills Christian.

Nick Easter scored 20 points to pace Stateline. Danny Kerekes added 15 points and Larry Jones, the team’s sole senior, followed with 10 points for  the Patriots (18-10).

Rochester Hills Christian (24-2), which won titles in 1992 and 2014 with state runner-up finishes in 1993, 2012, 2013 and 2015, will play Waterford Lakecrest Baptist in the finals at 5 p.m. Saturday at Clarkston Springfield Christian.
