SCHOOL: Allen Park Cabrini

HEAD COACH: Ken Briere, first season.

2015 RECORD: 2-7, 1-6 CHSL-Intersectional

POSTSEASON: None.

KEY RETURNEES: Steven Sowa, sr. RB/DB; Andy Orr, sr. OL/DL; Jeff Files, sr. OL/DL

NOTABLES: The Monarchs have been placed in the CHSL-Intersectional Division 1 for this season and hope to record a few more wins after a down year in 2015. Cabrini will be under a new direction with Ken Briere at the helm.

SCHOOL: Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood

HEAD COACH: Joe D’Angelo, fourth season (17-13)

2015 RECORD: 9-2, 6-1 CHSL-Intersectional

POSTSEASON: Def. St. Clair Shores South Lake (35-14); lost to Birmingham Detroit Country Day (42-7).

KEY RETURNEES: Tyler Santangelo, sr. QB; Aaron Wiggins, jr. RB; Tristan Knoer, sr. LB/RB.

NOTABLES: Two years ago, the Cranes carried several young players and now those athletes are seniors and junior coming off a 9-2 campaign. Expect this team to contend for a league championship and postseason berth. This team has become better each year under D’Angelo.

SCHOOL: Riverview Gabriel Richard

HEAD COACH: Thomas Michalsen, fifth season (19-20).

ASSISTANT COACHES: Ellis Slaughter, Mark Cox, Adam Stromberg, Jon Victor, Jay Brasfield, Al Stewart

2015 RECORD: 7-4, 5-2 CHSL-Intersectional (third)

POSTSEASON: Def. Grosse Pointe Woods University-Liggett (3-27); lost in D-7 district finals to Detroit Loyola (57-14).

KEY RETURNEES: Jac Lemieux, sr. LB/OL (5-10, 190); Devin Slaughter, jr. OL/DT (5-9, 200, all-league); Eric Wigginton, jr. WR/DB (6-1, 250); Anthony Brown, sr. WR/DB (6-4, 160); Brendan Holbird, sr. LB (5-9, 180); Michael Cacaj, sr. LB/DT (6-2, 200); Josh Tufts, jr. SS  (6-0, 170);  Zach Loewengruber, sr. K-P (5-10, 160, All-State Honorable Mention).

KEY NEWCOMERS: Nevin Hughes, soph. RB (5-11, 205); Tim Augustyniak, sr. RB/WR (6-2, 190); Josh Tufts, jr. RB (5-9, 180);

NOTABLES: The Pioneers posted a fine season last year, reaching the postseason and recording seven wins. There is some quality holdover talent that should keep this squad in the hunt for a league title and another postseason berth.

SCHOOL: Macomb Lutheran North

HEAD COACH: Ryan Wesley, fifth season (14-22).

ASSISTANT COACHES: Will Ebel, Dave Daniels, John Vermiglio, Rich Barno, Brian Lee

2015 RECORD: 2-7, 0-4 CHSL-AA Division (fifth)

POSTSEASON: None.

KEY RETURNEES: Mitch Visbara, sr. SS/WR; Michael Bafrno, sr. TE/DE; Jack Pyle, sr. RB/LB; Daric Craig, sr. Wr/DB; Ryan Pini, sr. C/DT; Tommy Papas, sr. LB/RB; Gavin McKenzie, sr. OT/DL; Joel Vandermeer, jr. WR/DB; Charles Kruse, sr. QB.

NOTABLES: While the Mustangs have a good mixture of experience and youth, they lack the swagger of league title contender, a change that Wesley hopes to make this fall. This team carries a high Football IG and will unfold a huge playbook to keep the opposition guessing. The Mustangs will be a swarming, aggressive-style of defensive team as well.
