GIRLS VOLLEYBALL: Notre Dame Prep sweeps Country Day in pre-district

PONTIAC — Pontiac Notre Dame Prep opend up Class B state tournament play Tuesday in recording its 50th win of the campaign in its 3-0 sweep of Birmingham Detroit Country Day.

The Fighting Irish recorded a 25-13, 25-17 and 25-10 triumph to advance to Thursday’s district semifinals against Clawson.

For the Irish Audrey Damman served up 14 points, including five aces, to lead the Irish (50-9-6). Freshman Taylor Raiola followed right behind with 13 service points, two aces and five kills.

Maria Famularo added nine points, five kills and 10 digs, Natalie Risi had seven kills and 10 assists, while Lauren Burnick picked up a dozen assists for the Irish, who received production up and down their lineup. 

Gabby Shilling added five kills and a pair of blocks while Maddy Chinn led all attackers with 11 kills, six blocks and 10 digs to aid Notre Dame Prep.volleyball - set 2
