CHESANING — Clarkston Everest Collegiate is navigating through unchartered waters and is doing so quite successfully.
Three days after capturing their first Division 4 district championship in school history on Saturday, the Mountaineers advanced to the regional finals for the first time as well.
Everest Collegiate downed unranked Roscommon, 3-0, Tuesday in the regional semifinals at Chesaning High School to keep its dream season alive.
Anthony Felix, Matt Stafford and Luke Walker scored the goals for the Mountaineers (14-3-1), who will face Bad Axe for the regional championship Thursday at 6 p.m., also at Chesaning.
Like Everest Collegiate, Bad Axe (12-4-3) is enjoying its best season to date and the winner will advance to the Final Four for the first time.
Felix and Stafford scored in first half to give the Mountaineers a two-goal cushion. Walker capped the scoring in the 61st minute for Everest Collegiate.
Alex Earnhardt earned the clean sheet on five saves for Everest Collegiate, and extended his single-season school record to nine shutouts on the campaign.
The Mountaineers are 7-2-1 in their final 10 games and picking up steam. Everest has outscored the postseason opposition 9-1 and hold a 69-11 overall scoring edge.
Roscommon, riding a seven-game win streak that included a 1-0 upset over 15th-ranked Midland Calvary Baptist last week in the district finals, finishes the year with a 17-7-0 mark.
BAD AXE 6, MEMPHIS 0: Bradley Howard and Liam Boyle scored twice to lead Bad Axe to the shutout during this Division 4 regional semifinal at Chesaning High School.
