GIRLS VOLLEYBALL: Notre Dame Prep caps regular season with quad sweep
PONTIAC — Behind a dominating performance, Pontiac Notre Dame Prep capped the regular season Thursday with a quad sweep at home over Plymouth, Walled Lake Northern and Bloomfield Hills.
The Irish are now 32-9-0 and enter the Division 2 postseason on a six-game streak.
Notre Dame Prep opened up with a swift 25-10, 25-11 sweep of Plymouth. Livy Kowalkowski served up 16 points from the line including seven aces she also added six digs and seven serve receptions. Josie Bloom kicked in six service points, one ace and 13 digs, while Aly Borellis and Bianca Giglio led the attack with seven kills apiece.
The second match up pitted the Irish against Lakes Valley Conference champion Walled Lake Northern, and the Irish walked away with a 25-13, 25-18 victory. Kowalkowski was once again lethal from the service line as she racked up four aces more aces, 10 total service points and had a team high 11 digs. Sophia Sudzina lead the Irish attack with six kills while Borellis and Giglio each contributed four kills to the cause.
Notre Dame Prep closed out the day with a 25-15, 25-18 over Bloomfield Hills. Kowalkowski picked up two more aces, six points to go with seven serve receptions and 14 digs. Josie Bloom had a team-high 10 serve receptions to go with seven points, points aces and seven digs. Margo Sudzina added five points, one ace, five digs and 11 assists, and Giglio and Borellis led the offense with nine and six kills respectively.
The Irish will host Madison Heights Lamphere in the district semifinals next week.
