NOTABLES: Avondale graduated eight players from its lineup and has more question marks than returnees. A rebuilding campaign is a likely scenario for the Yellowjackets.
Clarkston

LEAGUE MEET FINISH: First at OAA Red Division Tournament (43 points); first in final league standings (14 total points).

KEY LOSSES: Monique Zentner, MacKenzie Bedor, Jordan Stuart, Kendra Manz.
NOTABLES: Clarkston is gunning for its fifth straight top-10 state meet finish and joins Port Huron Northern and Grosse Pointe South as teams that have a legitimate shot at winning a state championship. Clarkston has experience, depth, star power and an aurora around it that has garnered plenty of success in recent years. In fact, the Wolves have reached the state finals 10 straight seasons with five top five finishes and eight top-10 state finals finishes since 2003.
Clarkston Everest Collegiate-
Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes Unified
COACH: Will Keating
LAST SEASON’S RECORD: 10-1-0, 5-0-0 CHSL-Intersectional Division (first).
LEAGUE MEET FINISH: Second at CHSL Division 2 Tournament (22 points).
REGIONAL MEET FINISH: Third at D-4 Almont regional (14 points).

KEY LOSSES: Tori Slack (No. 3 doubles); Ariana Gronow (No. 3 doubles); Caty Neitzke (No. 4 doubles); Monica Lee (No. 4 doubles).
NOTABLES: Over half of this unified team is back, as the Lakers look to contend for another division crown and make a serious push at a state finals pass.
Holly

LAST SEASON’S RECORD: 7-0-0, 7-0-0 Flint Metro League
LEAGUE MEET FINISH: First at Flint Metro League tournament (61 points); first in final league standings (16 total points).

DOUBLES LINEUP: No. 1: Carley Postma, sr. (regional and league champion at No. 1 doubles); Sydney Renehan, soph. (regional and league champion at No. 1 doubles); No. 2: Leah Moller, sr. (regional and league champion at No. 3 doubles); Chloe Reynolds, sr.; No. 3: Alanah Rau, sr. (regional and league champion at 3 doubles); Paige Reid, fr.; No. 4: Katherine Skubik, sr. (regional and league champion at No. 4 doubles); Abby Graff, jr.; No. 5: Makenna Rooker, jr. Shannon Torpey, fr.
KEY LOSSES: Victoria Skubik (No. 2 singles); Alex Knight (No. 3 singles); Daryl Spurgeon (No. 3 doubles).
NOTABLES: Holly has only lost the league once in three decades and has reached the state finals 13 straight times. Nine of the top 12 players return and there’s no reason to doubt the Bronchos, who are chasing another league crown and state finals berth.
Lake Orion
COACH: Eric Bracciano, seventh season.
LAST SEASON’S RECORD: 8-6-1, 1-5-1 OAA White Division
LEAGUE MEET FINISH: Sixth at OAA White Division Tournament (30 points); seventh in final standings (four total points).
REGIONAL MEET FINISH: Sixth at D-1 Rochester regional (eight points).
STATE TOURNAMENT: Did not qualify.
SINGLES LINEUP: No. 1: Selina Fuchs, soph. (league champ at No. 2 singles last season; all-league); No. 2: Melanie Gagen, sr.; No. 3: Sophia Partington, soph.; No. 4: Nadia Minart, sr.
DOUBLES LINEUP: No. 1: Maya Mitrovic, jr. (foreign exchange student); Rachel Alexander, jr.; No. 2: Kelsey Corless, sr.; Carley Jarvis, jr.; No. 3: Phoebe Holmes, jr.; Kayla Bruner, soph.; No. 4: Ashley Bressman, sr.; Taylor Doran, sr.; No. 5: Collette Doran, jr.; Alyssa Bowden, fr.
KEY LOSSES: Agatha Pawlikowski (No. 1 singles; all-league); Henna Ata (No. 3 singles); Elaina Kovac (No. 2 doubles); Janie Luby (No. 2 doubles).
NOTABLES: With an upgrade in overall talent and eight of the top 12 back in uniform, the Dragons look to finish in the top half of their league this season and challenge in one of their weekend tournaments. Lodged in the state’s toughest regional, a state finals berth is unrealistic.
Ortonville Brandon
COACH: Debbie Sebatic
LAST SEASON’S RECORD: 3-6-0, 2-5-0 Flint Metro League
LEAGUE MEET FINISH: Seventh at Flint Metro League (26 points); seventh in final standings (five total points).
REGIONAL MEET FINISH: Ninth at D-2 Holly-Fenton regional (0 points).
STATE TOURNAMENT: Did not qualify.
SINGLES LINEUP: No. 1: Leanne Olney, sr.; No. 2: Kim Reed, sr.; No. 3: Andrea Mullen, sr.; No. 4: Katie Forester, jr.
DOUBLES LINEUP: Still being decided.
NOTABLES: With the entire singles lineup back, the Blackhawks hope to climb a few rungs in the FML this season.
Oxford
COACH: Gayle Bailey, second season.
LAST SEASON’S RECORD: Overall record unavailable, 4-3-1 OAA Blue Division
LEAGUE MEET FINISH: Sixth at OAA Blue Division Tournament (33 points); fifth in final league standings (nine total points).
REGIONAL MEET FINISH: Eighth at D-1 Rochester regional (three points).
STATE TOURNAMENT: Did not qualify.
SINGLES LINEUP: No. 1: Mackenzie Prey, jr.; No. 2: Aviana Paese, sr.; No. 3: Madison Maier, sr.
DOUBLES LINEUP: Monica Heirman, soph.; Sierra Wallington, soph.; Lakin Felix, soph.; Rebekah Krol, soph.; Chloe Straub, jr.; Brooke Taylor, jr.; Jenna Duronio, sr.; Jessica Smith, sr.
KEY LOSSES: Katherine LaBombard (No. 1 singles; all-league).
NOTABLES: This is Oxford’s second varsity season after competing as a club program in 2012. With only one senior in its top 12 last season, there’s only one direction for the Wildcats to head this year. This should be an interesting campaign for Oxford in terms of growth.
Pontiac
LAST SEASON’S RECORD: 0-8-0, 0-8-0 OAA Blue Division
LEAGUE MEET FINISH: Ninth at OAA Blue Tournament (13 points); ninth in final standings (two total points).
REGIONAL MEET FINISH: Ninth at D-2 Birmingham Groves regional (0 points).
STATE TOURNAMENT: Did not qualify.
NOTABLES: Due to major budget cuts, Pontiac cancelled its tennis program this season.
Pontiac Notre Dame Prep
COACH: Peter Riley
LAST SEASON’S RECORD: 7-2-0, 6-0-0 CHSL-AA Division.
LEAGUE MEET FINISH: First at CHSL Division 2 Tournament (46 points).
REGIONAL MEET FINISH: Third at D-3 Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood regional (15 points).
STATE TOURNAMENT: Did not qualify.
SINGLES LINEUP: No. 1: Kayla Stencel, jr.; No. 2: Hannah Preuss, jr.; No. 3: Savannah Litton, jr.; No. 4: Gabby Bering, sr.; No. 5: Oana Danciu, jr.
DOUBLES LINEUP: No. 1: Annie Boniface, sr.; Julie Boniface, soph.; No. 2: Hannah Dinardo, sr.; Allison Kavanagh, soph.; No. 3: Nicole Gerber, soph.; Ila Batah, fr.; No. 4: Sara Hanna, jr.; Mira Housey, soph.
KEY LOSSES: Erin Moncrief (No. 2 singles); Maddie Riley (No. 2 doubles);
NOTABLES: A change in regional landed the Irish in one of the state’s toughest D-3 regionals and the NDP was left on the outside looking in at the state finals. The Irish will have to score at least 18 points this season to make it as an additional qualifier behind Birmingham Detroit Country Day and Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood. A total of 10 of the top 12 players are back, so this squad has experience and depth.
Rochester
COACH: Jerry Murphy, 10th season.
LAST SEASON’S RECORD: Overall record unavailable, 2-2-3 OAA White Division.
LEAGUE MEET FINISH: Fifth at OAA White Division tournament (34 points); tied for fourth in final standings (nine total points).
REGIONAL MEET FINISH: Fifth at D-1 Rochester regional (nine points).
STATE TOURNAMENT: Did not qualify.
SINGLES LINEUP: Claudia Gage, sr.; Amoolya Yetukuri, soph.; most of lineup undecided.
DOUBLES LINEUP: Still undecided.
KEY LOSSES: Rachel Parker (No. 1 singles; all-league); Stephanie Handley (No. 2 singles; all-league); Stephanie Vonburhen (No. 1 doubles; all-league); Avery McCleod (No. 2 doubles); Lauren Cates (No. 2 doubles).
NOTABLES: Rochester suffered through a major rebuilding year last spring after a long string of success. There are several question marks for veteran coach Jerry Murphy and a short season to figure out those blanks. Regional weekend is only a month away and the Falcons graduated five of their top seven players from a squad that was middle-of-the-pack at best last season.
Rochester Adams
COACH: Greg Burks, sixth season.
LAST SEASON’S RECORD: Overall record unavailable, 0-6-0 OAA Red Division.
LEAGUE MEET FINISH: Seventh at OAA Red Division Tournament (21 points); seventh in final standings (two total points).
REGIONAL MEET FINISH: Fourth at D-1 Rochester regional (10 points).
STATE TOURNAMENT: Did not qualify.
SINGLES LINEUP: No. 1: Halle Hyman, jr. (All-State First Team); No. 2: Marla Seavers, sr.; No. 3: Francesca Tiberio, jr.; No. 4: Nicole Vasilakis, soph.
DOUBLES LINEUP: No. 1: Emma Hiockey, sr.; Kristen Heim, sr.; No. 2: Bridgert Schepherd, sr.; Chrstine Weng, jr.; No. 3: Reshma Parikh, jr.; Erika Vonbehren, fr.; No. 4: Apurva Chilukuri, sr.; Abby Scheff, sr.; No. 5: Jenny Liu, jr. Nikitra Chitnis, soph.; No. 6: Grace Liuy, soph.; Sydney Lovalvo, fr.
KEY LOSSES: Victoria Morin (No. 3 singles); Cathie Wang (No. 1 doubles); Kate Cenko (No. 1 doubles).
NOTABLES: Rochester Adams took its lumps in the deep OAA-Red last season, but should fare better with 10 returning players. The Highlanders are lumped together with Clarkston, West Bloomfield, Bloomfield Hills and Rochester Stoney Creek in what is likely the state’s toughest regional regardless of division, so making the cut to the state finals might be a stretch.
Rochester Stoney Creek
COACH: Gina Petherick, first season.
LAST SEASON’S RECORD: Overall record unavailable, 2-4-1 OAA White Division
LEAGUE MEET FINISH: Third at OAA White Division tournament (41 points); tied for fourth in final standings (nine total points).
REGIONAL MEET FINISH: Seventh at D-1 Rochester regional (seven points).
STATE TOURNAMENT: Did not qualify.
SINGLES LINEUP: No. 1: Jamie Lai, soph. (transfer from New York); No. 2: Kara McKay, soph. (all-league); No. 3: Alex Feliz, sr. (league runner-up); No. 4: Fran Angel, jr. (league runner-up).
DOUBLES LINEUP: No. 1: Illissa Schutzbach, sr. Christina Morelli, sr.; No. 2: Anna Melaragni, sr.; Miranda Catallo, sr.; No. 3: Dominique Biondo, soph.; Joyce Yu, soph.; No. 4: Katherine Andrusz, sr.; Jessica Yin, soph.; No. 5: Chloe Zurcher, soph.; Cecile Herledan, soph.
KEY LOSSES: Rachel Cannon (No. 2 singles); Genevive LaCrosse (No. 1 doubles); Lauren Kuzdak (No. 3 doubles); Becky Free (No. 4 doubles).
NOTABLES: There are seven returning starters for the Cougars, who became much stronger when Jamie Lai arrived from New York to bolster the lineup, causing several players to bump down the chart. Stoney Creek could pose a serious challenge in the OAA White Division this season, as North Farmington and Birmingham Groves moved up to the OAA-Red this season and the race is wide open. A top-five finish at the state’s toughest regional is another realistic goal.
Troy
COACH: Brian Miska, third season.
LAST SEASON’S RECORD: 6-5-1, 3-3-0 OAA Red Division
LEAGUE MEET FINISH: Fifth at OAA Red Division Tournament (32 points); fourth in final standings (eight total points).
REGIONAL MEET FINISH: Second at D-1 Grosse Pointe South regional (24 points).
STATE TOURNAMENT: 11th at D-1 state finals (nine points).
SINGLES LINEUP: No. 1: Amanda Guo, sr. (all-league); No. 2: Abbey Rice, jr.; No. 3: Tiffany Chen, jr.; No. 4: Layla Hak, soph. (transfer).
DOUBLES LINEUP: No. 1: Lillian Laing, sr.; Deepthi Devireddy, soph.; No. 2: Arushi Mahajan, jr. (played No. 3 singles last season); Claire Keating, soph.; No. 3: Julianne Fave, jr.; Leena Penumalee, soph.; No. 4: Brittany Friesen, jr.; Katie Forche, sr.; No. 5: Anna Blas, jr.; Schwetha Ramchandram, jr.
KEY LOSSES: Katie Collins (No. 1 doubles; all-league); Hope Keating (No. 2 doubles; all-league).
NOTABLES: There are nine players back with varsity experience from a team that just missed the top 10 at the D-1 state finals and finished fourth in the final OAA-Red standings. The Colts have already loaded up the schedule with matches and tournaments featuring a multitude of top 10 teams in order to prepare them for the brutally-tough final three weeks of the campaign.
Troy Athens
COACH: Andrew Shipp, ninth season.
LAST SEASON’S RECORD: Overall record unavailable, 4-2-1 OAA White Division.
LEAGUE MEET FINISH: Fourth at OAA White Division tournament (38 points); third in final standings (11 total points).
REGIONAL MEET FINISH: Third at D-1 Grosse Pointe South regional (19 points).
STATE TOURNAMENT: 19th at D-1 state finals (two points).
SINGLES LINEUP: No. 1: Morgan Purvis, sr. (all-league at No. 2 singles); No. 2: Neha Sridhar, fr.; remaining slots still being worked out.
DOUBLES LINEUP: No. 1: Shirley Lu, sr.; Joy Goldschmidt, sr.; No. 2: Sarah Yee, sr.; Hanka Lekovic, sr.; No. 3: Jiwoo Choe, sr.; remaining slots still being worked out.
KEY LOSSES: Iris Su (No. 1 singles; all-league); Elisabeth Yang (No. 3 singles); Toni Akula (No. 1 doubles); Hope Ma (No. 2 doubles); Kim Truong (No. 3 doubles)
NOTABLES: Athens graduated six of its top 12 players from a team that reached the state finals. If newer players can fill in the gaps quickly, then the Red Hawks should fare well in the OAA-White and perhaps fight for the 18-points barrier at the regional and make the state finals once again. Athens has reached the state finals in four of the previous six seasons.
