Back in session … fall athletes jump into the grind as season approaches

WITH AUTHORITY: Troy Athens senior captain Will Chen, along with hundreds of other fall athletes, returned to the playing surface for training camp Wednesday, the first official day for MHSAA-member schools could begin in boys tennis, boys soccer, girls volleyball, boys and girls cross-country, girls swimming and girls golf.

To say that Oakland County is a hotbed for girls golf talent might be an understatement. The number of all-state players and state-qualifying teams is high each and every year during the past decade and that could very well continue in the future.

Troy bounces past Oxford; Shrine topples Oakland Christian

Junior forward Liz Siepker scored 13 points to pace Troy to a 47-22 win over Oxford in a non-league girls basketball game on Thursday. Karin Moss had eight points, six steals, seven assists for Troy (1-1). Colleen Burns added nine points and Karissa Krul scored six for the Colts.
