| January 12, 2011 | Comments (1)

Five Southern Methodist football players garnered All-Conference USA honors, announced the league recently, which is the most in one season since 1984 for the Mustangs.

Among that group of first-teamers is Zach Line, an Oxford High School graduate.

Line, a 2008 grad of Oxford, is a sophomore at SMU. He rushed for 1,391 yards this season, which is third-best single-season total, trailing only Eric Dickerson’s 1981 and 1982 seasons. He also led C-USA at 107.0 yards per game this season.

C-USA champion UCF and West Division champion SMU produced the most total selections with eight and the most first team choices with five. Kelvin Beachum, Jr., Ja’Gared Davis, Aldrick Robinson and Taylor Thompson.

Line and the Mustangs competed in the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl in Gerald J. Ford Stadium in Dallas.
