IUPUI snaps Oakland’s Summit League streak at 20

INDIANAPOLIS – All good things must come to an end.

Oakland’s 20-game win streak inside the Summit League came to a crashing halt Saturday, as host IUPUI exploded for a 100-88 victory.

IUPUI was the ;last team to defeat Oakland in the regular season and the only team to defeat the Golden Grizzlies the past two seasons.

Alex Young scored 31 points for IUPUI. Young hit 11 of 20 shots and 9 of 10 free throws for the Jaguars (15-10, 9-3), who made 29 of 34 foul shots to Oakland’s 4 of 7.

Leroy Nobles added  23 points, Stephen Thomas chipped in with 19 points and Christian Siakam followed with 16 points for IUPUI, which shot 56.5 percent (35 of 62). The Jaguars have won fur in a row.

Reggie Hamilton scored 23 points for Oakland (17-9, 12-1), which was outrebounded 40-31. Travis Bader nailed five 3-pointers for 15 points, Keith Benson was held to  11 points before fouling out and Drew Valentine and Larry Wright had 10 apiece.

Oakland led 37-26 with five minutes left in the first half before a 14-0 run gave IUPUI a lead it never relinquished.
