ROCHESTER HILLS — Rochester Hills Christian surpassed last year’s win total and continued its best start in several years by sweeping visiting Burton Faith Christian 16-0 and 4-0 Friday in a non-league baseball twinbill.

The Eagles (4-0) scored all 16 runs in the first two innings of this four-inning slugfest. Jesse Montgomery had two hits and three stolen bases, while Daniel Burmeister, Misael Hernandez and Brandon Rodriguez  all went 3-for-3 at the plate and scored at least one one run apiece.

Hernandez moved to 2-0 on the year with the shutout on the mound.

In the nightcap, the Eagles put the finishing touches on the sweep with another shutout, even though Faith Christian hurler Chase Thompson fanned 10 of the 26 batters he faced. All of Rochester Hills Christian’s runs were scored on throwing errors and heads up base-running.

Rodriguez pitched his first game of the year for Rochester Hills, striking out 12 of the 19 batters he faced for the win. Alex Briskey and Jon Armitage both stole four bases each for the Eagles, who did not record a single hit in Game 2.
