ROCHESTER – Oakland University senior Keith Benson has signed with Creative Artists Agency (CAA) for Leon Rose, announced the 6-foot-11 center on Wednesday. The two-time Summit League Player of the Year and All-American could become the first Oakland player to be taken in the NBA Draft.

“I’m excited to sign with Leon Rose and the Creative Artists Agency,” said Benson. “Their clients include the most celebrated actors, directors, producers, musical artists, screenwriters, authors and media personalities in the world. They also represent many of the NBA’s best athletes. I feel that this is the agency through which to reach my goals.”

CAA represents many of the NBA’s elite players, including LeBron James, Carmello Anthony, DeWayne Wade, Chris Bosh, Richard Hamilton, Tony Parker, Chris Paul, J.R. Smith and many more. Benson hopes to join that list as a first round NBA Draft pick when it occurs on June 23 in New Jersey.

Benson led the Golden Grizzlies to back-to-back Summit League regular season and tournament championships. OU won a program-best 91 games during his four-year career and he became the all-time shot blocker in The Summit League with 371. He is the only player in league history to surpass 1,500 points, 1,000 rebounds and 300 blocks, finishing his career with 1,903 points and 1,103 rebounds.

Benson has been invited to the prestigious NBA Combine in Chicago from May 18-22, which will be attended by all NBA scouts and directors of player personnel. Numerous NBA teams have already contacted his agent requesting visits from him for workouts. He is working out with two teams this week that have first-round picks in the NBA Draft.
