NDP wrestlers gain five medals at Lincoln tourney

WARREN — Pontiac Notre Dame Prep’s wrestling team had a productive day Saturday by earning five medals at the Warren Lincoln tournament.

Senior Captain James Yanik (171) finished third with two pins to lead the Fighting Irish.

David Carroll (140) was fourth and pulled an upset pinning the fourth-seeded wrestler in the quarterfinals.

Second-seeded freshman Kyler Kirk (145) rebounded from an upset in the quarterfinals to record three pins and an additional 10-8 win to finish fifth place.

David Jankowski (103) pulled off a dramatic overtime win to setup a match-up with teammate John Potwardowski (103) for fifth place. In a great battle, Potwardowski came away with a pin for fifth place while Jankowski finished sixth.
